The most commonly used army vehicle is The Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles which is a group of vehicles of different sizes which all can be used in different situations in the event of war. There are about five different types of army vehicles in this group of vehicles, the HEMTT, HMMWV, M1070 HEAVY EQUIPMENT TRANSPORTER (HET), PALLETIZED LOAD SYSTEM (PLS), and STRIKER. HEMTT stands for Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck and came about in 1982. Its main function in battle is to deliver supplies to combat vehicles and weapons system. The HEMTT is the driving force of the logistic division of the army, it was designed to function operate in almost any climatic condition where the military requires it services.
The HMMWV stands for (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) and is jeep that was introduced in the army in 1985. The HMMWV is a lightweight, four wheeled vehicle that has automatic transmission. It is used to transport soldiers in the most difficult landscapes, and the four wheel drive capability allows it to drive over all types of roads and in all weather conditions.
M1070 HEAVY EQUIPMENT TRANSPORTER (HET) consists of the M1070 Truck tractor and the M1000 Heavy Equipment Transporter Semi-trailer and can transport up to 70 tons of weight. This army vehicle is used to move across highways around the world. The M1070 has front and rear-axle steering, a central tire inflation system and has space for six persons including two HETS operators and four tank crewmen so the heavy Equipment transporter is built with features that allows it to be completely mobile in almost any type of landscape.
The PALLETIZED LOAD SYSTEM (PLS) also called a flattracks has two types, the M1074 and the M1074. The PLS is a mover truck was created with a self contained system to load and unload cargo on its own, so the driver of this mechanism can unload the contents from the truck in less than one minute without coming out. It is also able to change between a truck and trailer. The Stryker is an armored wheeled vehicle that is designed to help the Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) to operate more easily while still being protected in close and urban terrain. It is made up of two types, the Infantry Cattier Vehicle (ICV) and the Mobile Gun system (MGS)
