If you are planning on doing business online with one of the
many work from home based businesses available on the
internet, then you are going to want to make sure your
computer is up to the task.

Although it is possible to get by with a Pentium 1, at
today’s prices there is no reason to do so. Pentium 4
computers and AMD equivalent computers have dropped in price
enormously.

I have to admit, I am still using an Intel Celeron 766 Mh
computer but I upgraded the ram to 384 Mb and the hard drive
to 80 Gb. Also a high speed internet connection is a must. I
am connected to the internet from 8:00 Am to 2:00 Am (18
Hours) continuously every day. This means my security
including firewall must be set up properly and working. But
that’s another article for another time.

Why do you need a powerful computer for your work from home
internet business? Well before I upgraded from my Pentium
MMX 233 Mh computer I was spending more time re booting from
freeze ups and cleaning my hard drive than I was actually
working at my internet work from home based business. Yes I
started out over 5 years ago using a Pentium MMX 233 with
only 160 Mb of RAM and a 3 Gb hard drive, proving that it is
possible to build a work from home internet business on an
old slow computer. But why would you. I upgraded to a used
Celeron 766 Mh computer with 256 Mb of RAM for $200
Canadian. And here in Canada you can buy a Pentium 4 or AMD
equivalent for just $400-$500.

I recommend the following main features when looking for
your work from home internet business computer.

1.Pentium 4 or AMD Equivalent.

2.256 Mb of RAM minimum. 512 Mb is better.

3.80 Gb hard drive or better

4.Ethernet for high speed internet connection.

Your video card is less important unless you plan to play
games on your work from home business computer. Cheaper
computers come with onboard video which is just fine for
business purposes.

Try to get at least a 17 inch monitor. Get an LCD monitor if
you can afford it. It will save you all kinds of desk space
giving you more room to work.

These are my recommendations for your work from home
internet business computer based on my past experiences with
my own work from home internet business. They are just
guidelines only. In fact you could spend thousands of
dollars more than what I have suggested here. Wouldn’t we
all love to have an AMD 64 computer with 2 Gb RAM, dual 200
Gb raided hard drives and a 21 inch LCD monitor!

Why in the world should it be hard to reach a customer or a potential client ?

It should NOT be !

But with today’s fast paced internet technology and the introduction of new applications it is getting tougher to reach the potential customer or the regular clients.

I)EMAIL : Email has been a popular means of reaching your users, clients, co workers or just about anybody in the world.

The problem over here are Spammers !

Most of the emails received today by a person consists of 50% spam emails which means you get more spam messages in your inbox compared to the genuine email which is actually meant for you.The answer to this were scripts like spam fighter and spam boxer apps. This has further created problems for the email users as now a good percentage of the email that was supposed to reach did not reach them.

II)Ip 2 Ip messenger : This interesting revolution had no barries. The user could just type in his message and the range of ips and his message would directly reach the ip addresses in the form of a messagebox window.

The problem over here are Ip messenger spammers using applications like Ip broadcasting softwares.

To stop this a new software was introduced called the Ip-spam blocker which actually blocks such ip advertisement messages. Also new operatings systems like Windows XP have introduced tweaks for such problems.

III)Rss and blogs : Blogs are a great way to create and reach your target audience. For every blog there is an rss.You can give away the rss link to the user so that the users can add it to their rss readers.Your main aim should be to get the user’s attention and make your blog and rss at top rather than getting mixed in the unlimited info filled blog world and rss readers.

The problem over here is that your one RSS url gets lost in the other 15 rss urls added to the rss aggregator.

So you ask yourself a question. Is there a way to reach the user’s desktop directly without any hinderances.

Yes there is.

1)Give the user options : Not every user uses a rss reader nor does every user has the guts to give away his email if on each and every newsletter signup form due to the fear of spam.
Best you can do is give user an option to signup at your blog and be notified of each and every post. With this you must also allow the user to add the rss feed autmatically to his reader.

2)Stay on user’s desktop : With Blog reader solutions like Blog Exprss you can now get the undivided attention of the user by staying at the user’s desktop and giving him/her the latest update without the hinderance of ip blockers or spam filters.

It’s an interesting question I know, to which most may have already made up their minds and come up with an immediate answer of no but before you shut the door on this one let me go on.

With a divorce rate in England and Wales in upwards of 150,000 per year (which is more than half the rate of marriages no less) and shows no sign of dramatic reduction is it possible that we are not prescribing the right ‘medicine’?

We all know that marriage should be a union of love, friendship and intimacy; particularly a healthy sex life but it seems that the lack of the latter can often be the major contributor when it comes to marriage breakdown. So with all the information at our fingertips and the ever increasing statistics staring us in the face why is that our sex lives are being paid less and less attention?

One reason has to do with our complete lack of ability to communicate about anything that is remotely taboo and it is this exact loss of communication skills and the ignorant yet hopeful attitude that ‘things will sort themselves’ which can ear mark a marriage for probable separation within 12 months.

Our hectic lifestyles aren’t helping either. Sex is way down on the list of things to do, sadly being replaced by the longer hours at work, the school run, the shopping and the house work. Put frankly many don’t have time for sex anymore and there must be an increase in the popularity of the use of the phrase ‘I’m too tired’ - I’d like to see those statistics!

Low sex marriages across the board often share the same symptoms; you only have sex a few times a month, sex is a chore, you schedule sex, you don’t fantasize about your partner, there is no sense of adventure and neither of you are frisky anymore. Suffering these symptoms? If so a remedy is needed but it might not be what you are thinking.

So what’s the solution?

Step 1 - Start talking. A fundamental concept that needs to be grasped is that communication is paramount. How can you correct a problem if one half of your relationship doesn’t know that one exists? It has been proven time and time again that couples who communicate well and share activities together often have a much more sexually active relationship.

Step 2 - Make time. Often couples that end up going away for a weekend or manage to escape the children for any substantial periods of time find that they have what can only be described as ‘honeymoon sex’. The reduced workload and subsequent lower stress levels seem to remove inhibition and rekindle the slowly dwindling flame.

Step 3 - Spice it up. If it isn’t new, it’s through. Consider spicing up your bedroom. It’s the quickest and cheapest way to give you both a change of scenery and even a subtle hint like changing the usual light bulb for a shade of rouge can make a huge impact.

Step 4 - Look in the toy box. Many still think of sex toys as being scary looking vibrating gizmos that can only be found in the dodgy back street sex shops found in the nasty side of town - not anymore. Sure you can still find these but when it comes to relationships sometimes it’s better to take a more subtle approach.

When choosing any marital aids choose the ones that will offer the greatest chance of increased intimacy and not just the latest craze. Generally the area of sex that offers amplified intimacy levels is foreplay. Concentrate on this area and get to know your partner all over again. Make it fun with a handful of accessories like the classic blindfold, maybe some fluffy handcuffs and some daring dice that dictate an act to be carried out with every roll.

Keeping your choices to a select few will have the desired effect of keeping the focus on you and your partner and not the new additions. There’s no point having the latest toys that receives all the attention and hoping that your relationship will be ok now, the focus should be on what they can add to your sex life, not be the central part of it.

So, can sex toys save your marriage? On there own, no. However, as part of a larger scheme to pay more attention to your sex lives, maybe they are just what the doctor ordered.

First it was music, and it was great, then there were photos,
and it was excellent, now its videos and movies then it became
fantastic. After four generations, the iPod is now truly a
complete multimedia.

With so much fanfare and anticipation, iPod finally released its
iPod video capable of playing movies for your viewing pleasure.
You now not only would be able to spend countless hours of
listening to music, you can also play the movies that you want
to see.

Relieve those memories on the road with your downloaded home
movies. Be able to share them easily with your friends and
relatives. All you have to do is plug in your iPod in a
television set and you’re good to go. Sharing videos and movies
have not been this easier.

You can also transfer those movie files from one computer to one
another. Just by simply plugging them in a dock. With the new
features of the iPod, you won’t need to bring different gadgets
for your photos, music and movies anymore.

But it’s not just about downloading the video. The iPod uses
their own video format so you still have to convert your movies
if you want to be able to watch them on your iPod. They play MP4
and M4V file formats.

For those who are still in the dark on how to put your movies in
your iPod, her is a step by step procedure on how to do it:

1. First, you have to make sure that the video is in the MP4 or
MPEG4 file format. If not, you have to download a video
converter to do this task. There are lots of video converters
for free in the internet for you to download. After downloading,
install your video converter. Generally, they have the same
methods on how to convert a different video file format to MPEG4.

* From the drop down file menu, click on open file, go to the
folder where your chosen file is, and open it.

* Choose the format wherein you want your video to be converted
to. You can do this in the options menu. You should choose MPEG4
or MP4 as the file format.

* Then you know have the option of choosing which parts or
segments of the movie you want to save and convert. You can just
click on the starting point of the movie, there is usually a
progress bar in the program, and where you want it to end. If
you want to convert the whole movie then there is no need to do
that.

* Choose the folder where you want to converted file to go, then
convert.

2. Then go to iTunes, this is the software bundled with your
iPod with the CD that comes with the package. Once iTunes is
open, just click add file to the library, this can be found in
the file menu. There you will select the folder where your
converted movie is.

3. Plug your iPod video to your computer.

4. Open up a window for your iPod then just drag and drop the
file to transfer it.

5. You may now test the movie by watching it in your iPod. Then
you may now enjoy watching the movie in your iPod anytime and
anywhere.

Then there you have it. With some accessories, you can share the
videos with all your friends and families. If you have a large
capacity hard disk, you can enjoy many hours of movies and
videos in your iPod.

Mobile telephones have progressed a long way from their humble beginnings as the analog “bricks” of the 80’s as technology has offered increasingly more complex features and options. Once no more than just a phone, now the average new cellphone has more on-board processing power than the combined computing power used to land men on the moon. Miniaturization, modern programming, and constantly improving technology driven on by a hungry market means that the cellphones of today are not just a phone, or even an organizer, but instead, they are a centralized multimedia platform. They offer many of the same advanced features as a PDA, like Bluetooth, flash card compatibility, radio, and fully featured integrated digital cameras. Much like the cameras found on PDAs, the digital photography offered by multimedia phones is not brilliant, but rather better suited to casual photography of friends at opportune moments. The advantage of having an integrated cell-camera is that as a phone is something that people tend to always carry with them, they will always have a camera handy.

If high quality digital photography is what you’re after, then you’re better off buying a mobile phone and camera separately. While camera technology is getting there for things like PDAs and mobiles, the range of advanced options for a cell phone camera don’t even translate to the standard set of features for a basic digital camera. A comparison of some prominent models on the market today follows, giving consideration to the cost, feature set, and level of quality offered by each device.

The Palm Treo 650 Smartphone runs the Palm OS version 5.4 on a 312MHz Intel CPU. It has 23MB of user memory available, expandable with the addition of either an SD or MMC flash cards. The display is a 320×320 pixel 16-bit color TFT, and it features a 0.3MP digital camera, capable of taking photos or capturing video. Feature wise, it’s impressive, but doesn’t weigh up against similar products for the price. The camera in particular is under-powered for the amount of processing behind it. A Smartphone 650 will set you back about $550.

The Sony Ericsson W800i has 32MB of user memory, and comes free with a 512MB Memory Stick Pro flash card. Featuring a display resolution of 176×220 pixels, and a 2 MP digital camera, it is fairly light on the features, and would be best described as a basic high-end mobile phone. The 2MP digital camera goes some way towards justifying the cost, but it doesn’t compare to buying a digital camera separately. The W800i will set you back around $480.

The Nokia 7610 is a competitive entry on this list, featuring a fairly rich feature set by comparison to the other examples. However, it has only 8MB on-board memory, expandable via a MultiMediaCard flash card. It comes with a free 64MB MMC, with a 176×208 display in 16-bit color. The 1MP digital camera supports a very wide range of image formats, as well as two modes of video in low or medium resolution. It supports multiple video formats, has a 4x digital zoom. The Bluetooth enabled system itself has a web browser and email client. The main problems with this phone are the relatively short lived battery, and the small amount of on-board memory. But at just $310, the feature set gives this phone serious bang for the buck.

If we compare each of these to a normal digital camera, it is easy to see why they are not a good choice if you intend to focus on photography. $350 gets you a Canon SD500 7.1 MP digital camera. It features 3x optical zoom, along with 4x digital zoom, Television AV/out port, proper strobe flash with red-eye reduction, heavily customizable setup, optional automatic lighting conditions compensation, a tripod mount point, full motion video recorded at effective resolution of 0.3MP. It has an SD card slot, and a host of other features too numerous to name. This is not an elite, professional grade camera, however it outperforms every camera phone listed by at least 3:1. and at a lower cost too.

Cellphones have evolved to a point where they more closely resemble a laptop than anything else, combining a truly impressive range of multimedia technologies into one tiny device. Displays are improving rapidly, as is the level of functionality offered by modern mobile phones. As they become more numerous, these features will become increasingly useful as vast networks of people, all armed with such versatile devices will begin to take shape. As of now, however, they are fairly unfocused in their capabilities, offering a very wide range of features, but not delivering any one of them so well as to replace the technology from which the features first came from. While camera cellphones can have their uses, they still do not lend themselves well to high quality photography. For casual use with friends, or general purpose use, a camera phone can be a lot of fun, and while it combines a lot of devices into one convenient package, it doesn’t deliver the a high level of quality.

If you’re struggling through high school chemistry, take heart. In 2003, a man who got a D in chemistry in high school won the Nobel Prize, the most prestigious award any chemist could ever receive.

Peter Agre discovered aquaporins, a breakthrough that could eventually lead to a cure for diseases such as cataracts or kidney damage. His father was a college chemistry professor, but he almost failed the course in Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. He went to Augsburg College in Minneapolis, where he did well enough to get into Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He specialized in blood diseases, and years ago, he was extracting proteins from cells to find a cause of rH blood cell bursting in newborns. He found a strange protein that he couldn’t identify. Each red blood cell had more than 200 of these proteins on its surface. Anyone else could have forgot about it, but Peter Agre is a curious man. He had to find out if this protein occurred anywhere else.

He found huge amounts in kidneys and even higher amounts in the roots of plants. His mentor asked him if the protein could have anything to do with how water goes inside and outside of cells. He added large amounts of this protein to frog’s eggs. They filled up with water and popped like popcorn. Thus, he showed that the mysterious protein caused water to enter cells at a very fast rate. He found that lack of this protein causes a terrible disease called kidney diabetes insipidus in which a person loses huge amounts of water in the urine.

Peter Agre named the protein aquaporin. In the future, it could lead to a cure for many diseases in which the transport of water is not normal. Water is the most abundant component of all living organisms. Sixty percent of your body is water. Cells and tissues are remarkably different in their ability to absorb or release water. The study of aquaporins could lead to cures for kidney water defects, major blood group transfusion reactions, cataracts, a disease called renal tubular acidosis, Sjogrens syndrome, and brain swelling.

Peter Agree, the kid who got a D in high school chemistry, is now a distinguished professor of biochemistry at Johns Hopkins and winner the most prestigious award any chemist could win . . . the Nobel Prize.
