At first we seemed to hit it off famously.
That is… until religion entered the picture. At least on his side. In fact he still pokes fun at me, calling me a “looney” from time to time whenever I bring up certain viewpoints of Christianity.

But I suppose there are worse things to be called… and for dishonorable reasons.

And he means it all in good humor.

In the beginning, there were so many days we spoke about faith and beliefs.

Extended emails or high heated debates on AIM about the rights and wrongs of Christianity. Most of the time which I spent defending it.

We spent months getting to know one another and talking back and forth by email almost every single day. And that’s when the struggle started.

I started to have feelings for Michael. And at this point in my life it was about the worst thing that could happen.

In my younger years I had spent ages dreaming about love and convincing myself that any fabricated emotion for any guy equalled love.

During which I had made a foolish mistake of telling one or two men whom I got to know fairly well—that I loved or cared for them.

(Stupid stupid stupid!)

So by the time I was in my twenties… I didn’t want anything to do with love.

I was afraid. I never had the teenage experiences that most girls had. The first kiss. The first date, or anything else that followed.

All of my high school years were spent drooling over John and turning down any offers I had in the process.

So by the time I was an adult… I was still a child in that aspect.

And anyone who could’ve ever taught me much about love wasn’t around, except for my mother.

It was just my sister, my mother, and me. And we all fended for ourselves. Not to mention, oftentimes we were each other’s enemies.

So when love came… I wasn’t ready. And I definitely didn’t want it.

And then one particular day something happened that changed everything for me.

Michael and I were having one of our usual long winded debates. He had emailed me his reply and I sat myself down at the table to write him back.

He had once again fired me up and I was going to make sure that whatever retort I had—it was going to be a good one. So I settled myself in the chair and began writing… then about halfway down the letter… I had a vision.

Suddenly, I was in some place like Africa and there were two children next to me. African children.

I was on a missionary trip and I looked up and Michael was walking toward me, smiling.

I remember thinking how handsome he looked, and how much I loved that special sparkle that only his blue eyes could illuminate.

And there was this feeling of contentment that was in the air. A serene indication that the grief had passed and that everything was okay. The sort that you get after a long stint of tribulation.

And I heard the words, “I can’t believe I ever put you through all of that” and then it was over.

And from that day forward I knew Michael was the one. And I finally gave into how much I loved him.

There was no longer the emotional struggle that inclined me to fight against such love that consumed me.

He had my heart and he had it completely.

All I can ever say from what I was given was that God had addressed my spirit with his spirit… and I felt I had always known him and had never known a day without him.

After that initial period we talked several more months and grew even closer until one day…

… another woman entered the picture.

A lady he had previously met at a course he had taken. He started chatting with her online and then the burden came. I was quite certain he really liked her… and I didn’t stand a chance.

For days I was plagued with grief. I spent the majority of my time alone in my room sulking, listening to sad songs, and crying.

And when that finally became too much for me. I finally talked to my sister about it.

And she said, “Well, have you told him? You know, it’s possible he’s thinking the same thing you’re thinking and neither of your are saying anything.”

And when I looked back on the situation I told her it was possible. But still in, my heart, I was struggling with the fact that anyone could ever really love me.

I wasn’t what most men considered attractive. I was overweight… I was just not “the type.”

So I knew if I decided to tell Michael how I felt, it was a big risk and there was a big chance he would reject me.

“But isn’t it worth the risk?” I said to myself. “I promised myself the next time I felt anything for a man I would be brave enough to tell him I loved him.”

That had been an oath I had made to myself after the initial rejection from John. I had always regretted sending John a love letter rather than just openly admitting it.

Because I never felt love was something you should be ashamed of.

And with that thought I finally convinced myself and jumped on the computer, before I changed my mind, and wrote him a letter…

To this day I don’t remember a single thing I said except one very important phrase that said all that really mattered…

“I’m in love with you.”

And with that said… I clicked “Send.”

The Art of Seduction

There are all kinds of seduction styles, depending on people’s individual personalities, but the two essential ingredients that no one can go without at the critical moment of seducing and captivating another person are:

The smile

The smile has a uniquely seductive power to conquer anyone. The best kind of smile is one that communicates sincerity, since a false smile is easily detected and always inspires mistrust.

Just like the gaze, a smile can say many different things. It doesn’t just express happiness, it can also indicate anxiety, insecurity, and even hostility in disguise. A weak or vacillating smile that doesn’t reveal the teeth and is accompanied by an insecure gaze is a sign of timidity and a lack of self-confidence. A repressed smile can send mixed signals, especially, when the other person doesn’t know why we’re smiling, they may think we’re making fun of them.

The look

This is most people’s favorite method, because it’s the most efficient, for men and women. Casting an effective seductive gaze requires elegance and subtlety, and it can say more than a thousand words. Maintaining eye contact for at least three seconds can inspire trust or interest in the other.

A clear, sincere, direct, open gaze can attract and fascinate even a person who has been a little resistant to your charms. Make sure that your look always conveys a certain sweetness, calm, class and generosity, so that you always radiate confidence, tranquility and tenderness.

The duration of time that someone will hold our gaze can also provide some clues. Insecure people will meet your eyes for less time. When people talk about personal issues, they tend to make less eye contact. If someone pays us a compliment, it’s just the opposite: we will maintain eye contact to try to determine whether that person is being sincere.

The way that we look at each other is just important as actual physical contact. If the look is a blend of mystery and passion, and is delivered with a fresh, provocative smile, then it will immediately succeed in having a mesmerizing, attractive effect.

Medical billing in the United States is fraught with many challenges and problems. The primary goal of medical billing is to receive fair compensation for the work that was performed in a timely manner. However, this is rarely the case. This series will explain those challenges and suggest possible solutions to these problems.

Patient Billing

Most practices today find it more time consuming and more costly to attempt collection of fees from patients then insurance carriers. For those practices that do take patient collection seriously, they may underestimate the toll on resources to complete the task.

Have you ever wondered how long it takes your staff to complete the print and mail function of sending out patient statements? Some practices choose to do weekly, biweekly or monthly patient statement processing. Manually processing a patient statement mailing dramatically affects your practice operations and revenue streams. Processing times can be lengthy, and delays are quite common due to lack of time and resources at most physician’s practices.

A careful analysis of the costs reveals some surprising numbers.

  • $0.39 first-class stamp
  • $0.08 envelope with window or label
  • $0.08 return envelope
  • $0.02 paper
  • $0.10 printer ink or toner
  • $0.25 labor (assuming $15/hour and 60 statements/hour)
  • $0.92 Total

At $0.92 per statement to perform this operation in house, there may be a better solution for you.

Potential Solution

There is a solution; electronic patient statements. The process of sending patient statements can be as easy as sending electronic insurance claims. Electronic patient statements allow your staff more time to focus on your patients. When it comes time to print, fold, stuff, stamp, seal and bundle the statements, you can outsource this menial labor task. With electronic patient statements any patient that has a balance and is eligible to be billed, will automatically be sent a patient statement on time. With this automation, you will improve your accounts receivables timeline. Electronic patient statements also allow you to minimize mis-labeling errors and delays inherent with the in-house print and mailing functions which impacts your ability to bring your money in.

Your practice management software solution provider should have this valuable service available. Additionally, this service usually costs less than the postage and supplies outlined above. Usual automated patient billing service costs for electronic patient statements are $0.62-0.75 per statement.

What do I have for you today? I thought I’d talk about Spyware. Many people confuse spyware with a virus, and virus’ or (virii) with spyware. While many have overlapping areas, generally they are two distinct categories

Spyware removers such as Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy break the Spyware & Adware down into categories; these categories are then used in a threat assessment after the scan is run. I’ll include some typical categories and a short description of each.

Adware
This is designed to display advertising to the user that the user may not be aware of or want to see. Most often this form of Adware is included in freeware bundles or as additional (and/or required) content with shareware. Adware is generally relatively harmless, and more of a nuisance than a danger to you computer, if you remove some forms of Adware from your system, certain programs you have downloaded (the ones that brought the Adware on your system) may stop functioning. Your choice then is to put up with the Adware or usually pay for an ‘Ad free’ version of that program

Annoying Ware?
This is Adware that causes multitudes of pop ups and assorted hard to stop windows and this is forcing you to put up with adverts you don’t want. This also will slow your system down and drive you mad trying to close all the windows etc and as soon as you close one another pops up. Annoying to the extreme!

Data Mining
This is an application that companies that supply software and games etc, designed to collect information about the user and does so aggressively. This data is then often stored on your system to be transmitted without detection next time you use that piece of software from the company. The data then is used to provide demographics, targeted advertising and in some cases even personal data

Dialer
The application is designed to change the user’s Dial Up Networking settings to dial numbers that the user does not know about, to connect to a number in stealth, and/or to avoid being detected by the user such as dialling expensive connections where the user has not authorized the connection.

Hijacker
These applications are designed to hijack the user’s home page, HOSTS file, browser favourites, chosen search engine, and/or system settings.

Exploit
The application employs the use of a software or system exploit to install and/or operate.

Malware
These are malicious software designed to do harm to a user’s system or to other systems that is not specifically a VIRUS.

Monitoring Tool
This category includes remote access Trojans (RATs), Root Kits, etc.

MRU
This is a listing of the Most Recently Used lists stored in your registry. They are harmless and consist only of things such as the most recent document you opened.

To me, AOL Browser .68 Beta is what a browser should be. Relatively lightweight, easy to install, and most of all, it works how I want it to. I’ve been using for one day, and I’m already converted.

Based on Internet Explorer 6 technology, the new AOL Browser has taken what is good with browsers such as Firefox and Opera, and incorporated it all into one browser. With features such as tabbed browsers, quick search and an all inclusive desktop search facility, could this be the browser that puts a dent into Firefox’s golden run?

Perhaps, but lets not look too far ahead. As with any beta software, AOL has a long way to go with their new browser, and it has lots of features lined up and raring to go. Some of the key features to the browser include:

- Tabbed Browsing: Everyone loves it, it saves space, and it saves memory. Tabbed browsing is the future of internet browsing, and AOL have found a solution that works just fine. It’s nothing innovative, no, but the tabbed browsing is fast, efficient, and easy to use. Hovering over a tab will display a screenshot of the page which lies beneath, so no more having to flick through browser tabs to find the page your looking for!

- Website Snapshots: The idea of a snapshot has been around for a while, but AOL have made good use of it this time around. Hover over the back and forward buttons to see the webpage you just left behind, hover over a tabbed window to see what is on it, and hover over quick favourites to see where exactly where they are going. It couldn’t be simpler!

- Quick Favourites: In addition to normal favourites, AOL offers quick favourites. Simply add a webpage to a specified folder in your favourites, and it will display a small textlink in the browser window, just under the address bar. Click it, and your browser zooms off to the webpage you specified. Quick, easy and effective.

- Power Browsing: All in good fun, AOL serves up a series of “Power Browsing” methods, these include zooming in and out, highlighting links, listing all the links on a specific page, mirrors and flips, and even changing to a high contrast version of the page, which inverts the style sheet!

- Built-in Desktop Search Facility: No more having to download a Google or Yahoo! add-on, the new AOL browser comes complete with a built in desktop searching facility which indexes your hard-drive as you are browsing. It’s not quite as competent as other desktop search utilities out there, but it gets the job done, it finds what you want, and it couldn’t be simpler to use.

And what features are still to come?

- AOL Smartbox: Find what you are looking for with this search facility. It will find, navigate and organise your search results for you, to make sure you get only the most specific results for your search terms.

- Designer Skins: Completely customise your online experience by customising the browser to fit your mood. Choose from a range of AOL designed skins, or make your own. Your browser, your choice!

For more on what AOL Browser beta has to offer, take a look at this page: http://beta.aol.com/aolbrowser/help.html

Could the AOL Browser give Firefox an unwelcome challenge, or will it be fogged off like its predecessors? No specific date is set for a full launch, but AOL need to make their move now, whilst there’s still a chance.

We all know the effects of data loss –but exactly what is it?

Data loss - A crash in computing is a condition where a program (either an application or part of the operating system) stops performing its expected function and also stops responding to other parts of the system. Often the offending program may simply appear to freeze. If this program is a critical part of the operating system kernel the entire computer may crash (a system crash).

Having noted the definitions for data loss I’ll note a few reasons why it occurs, and how to recover the data, as well as a few links to specialized sites.

1. User error - A simple mistake on behalf of an employee could lead to the loss of megabytes of critical company data. From the deletion of a critical file to the accidental deletion of database records, your customers could face large expenses and significant down time recovering the disaster created by a simple mistake.

2. Employee theft - Employees need access to sensitive data in order to perform their jobs. Your customers have to limit the information to which employees have access, ensure that terminated employees no longer have access to sensitive data, and be able to track who’s touching what, when and how.

3. Disaster - What natural disasters or unfortunate accidents might affect business? Magazines daily contain news of organizations that have faced unbelievable catastrophes. In the event that your or your customers’ organizations are hit with a fire, flood or other disaster, how will the data be protected?

One way is to have backups. Using an Iomega REV drive powered by Iomega Automatic Backup Pro software, configure a full backup to REV 35GB disks once a week. Once this backup is done, you can secure the full backup offsite. With your data now backed up in two locations, no single event will be able to damage both sets of data. This backup can be done through backing software, like Argentum™ Backup , which automatically detects and locates the proper paths, folders and files under any Microsoft Windows (95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and 2003) platform. Argentum Backup does it for sure, without any mistake or occasion. Argentum Backup is designed to be suitable for both beginners and advanced users

But, the best and newest way are the online backup solutions, which help you protect your data on a regular basis (daily, weekly or monthly). One of this sites is Iomega iStorage, from one of the best backup companies. This site offers a feature-rich, highly secure online storage vault designed perfectly to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses. Includes administrative abilities that give you control of content shared and accessed. It creates multiple logins to the same account, giving members their own login and storage space and creates logins for guests to use with restricted access

Another site is www.backup.com, where you can find another on-line backup system, called @backup. It’s main features are:

·simple finding and selecting of files is made easy with our right mouse click options or with our explorer-like interface;

·You don’t have to remember to do a backup. @Backup remembers for you. You set your backup schedule and we do the rest;

·They encrypt your data with bank level security procedures before transferring over the Internet to our data centers. Your data is stored encrypted and only accessible with your password.

·You can restore files anytime. In the event of a crash, a virus infection, or a simple user error your backups are a click away. Additionally you have access to your files from any PC anywhere.

These are just two of the sites that offer you on-line backup system. The internet is packed with offers that vary from the size of the backup they provide to the monthly cost of the service. For your help, I’ve included a few links, to other sites, where you can find details and prices for on-line backups.
