Clay pot crafts are a cute way to make home decorations. In clay pot crafts, clay flower pots can be crafted into a variety of decorative things that appeal to gardeners. Usually, the crafter begins with new pots. The pots are often decorated with paint as well as being tied together with rope or cord to create things.

Pots for clay pot crafts can be purchased in many different sizes, from tiny ones not more than 2 inches in diameter, to huge ones over a foot across. For a beginning project, start with smaller pots. The beginner should also choose clay pot crafts that don’t use too many pots in too elaborate a design.

An example of a good craft for someone new at clay pot crafts is to make a bell from two clay pots. Buy one pot that is about five or six inches in diameter, and another that is very small. You will use the small one as the clapper for the bell. You will also need some decorative cord, two large wooden beads, and paint in desired colours. You may also wish to purchase some glue-on jewels to decorate the bell. The bell makes a nice decoration for a front porch.

Cut the cord two feet (60 cm.) long. Fold the end over 3 inches (8 cm.) and tie in an overhand knot, making a loop. This loop is for hanging the bell from a hook or a nail. Now turn the larger clay pot upside-down. Pass the loose end of the cord down through the hole in the pot. Lay the pot on its side and slide one of the large wooden beads up the cord until it is about 10 inches (25 cm.) from the loose end. Now tie the cord around the bead so that the bead cannot slip from its position on the cord. If you have done this correctly, you can lift the pot by the loop. In clay pot crafts, the beads must be large enough to stop the cord from going through the hole in the bottom of the pot.

On the loose end of the cord, you are going to attach the small pot in the same way. Slide the small pot up the cord to make it easier to tie the other large wooden bead on the end of the cord. Now when you lift the entire arrangement by the loop, the smaller pot should hang freely inside the larger pot, making a pleasant sound when it claps against the larger pot.

Decorate the outside of the larger pot with paint as desired. You may like to paint it in black and white patches for a Holstein cow theme. You may also like to decorate the top of the bell with silk or dried flowers and greenery and a ribbon bow.

For a variation on this craft, make three of the bells and hang them from a horizontal piece of driftwood or other interesting piece of natural wood. When making hanging clay pot crafts, always make sure the beads are large enough and are tied tightly in place, because the clay pots will break if they fall to the ground.

Other clay pot crafts include making a large doll or scarecrow of nested pots strung together and painted. The doll can sit on a chair or a step of the front porch. Paint his face to look like a scarecrow, a jack-o-lantern, a gnome, or a child. Clay pot crafts are especially suited to being displayed outside.

Before purchasing a telescope it is very important to know what you want and what. $30 invested in a good book will not only ad to your enjoyment of the night sky, but may save you from making a $300 mistake. The best advice is to visit your local astronomy club and learn from the experience and mistakes of others who have gone before. Question the scope owners about the advantages/disadvantages of each of their scopes. You will quickly learn that there are many different types of scopes and mounts. There is no “best” design, each has its strong and weak points. The only way to know what to expect and what you really want is to look at and through as many different scopes as possible before deciding what to buy.

When you are ready to buy, avoid department stores. The types of telescopes that sell in department stores for up to $300 and more are mostly junk. Despite outrageous advertising claims they are all but unusable and are more likely to kill your interest in astronomy than encourage it. A telescope shop is the preferred place to shop though some larger camera stores may be approached with caution.

When getting started in any new hobby the best advice is always to start with the basics. Every avid amateur astronomer, no matter what other equipment they own, has a good pair of binoculars. There are several good reason for this. The wide field of view and erect image of binoculars allow easy navigation around the sky. Many of the best astronomical objects can be seen in binoculars including; 150,000 stars (Compared to 3,000 with the unaided eye), the complete Messier Catalogue of 109 best star clusters, galaxies and nebulae, all the solar system planets except Pluto, 2 - 4 moons of Jupiter, 100 craters and mountains on the Moon and bright asteroids.

Note also that binoculars are better than telescopes for observing extended objects such as star clouds of the Milky Way, open star clusters and bright comets which are to large to fit into the field of view of a telescope. A pair of binoculars that you already have around the house are the most cost-effective way to get started but if you have to buy a pair 7×50 or 10×50 binoculars are an ideal beginners instrument. You can get a very good quality pair of binoculars for around $150 which will give views far superior to a cheap telescope that cost twice that much. The next accessory you should consider is a camera tripod and an adapter for your binoculars. The view through a solidly supported pair of good quality binoculars is comparable in quality to a wide field view through a good telescope. The secret to enjoying the night sky is not having fancy equipment, but knowing what to look for and where to look. A telescope is no better than the naked eye if you don’t know where to point it.

Once you learn your way around the sky and how to locate the brighter objects you may decide that your interest justifies the purchase of a telescope. The move from binoculars to a telescope is motivated by the desire to see finer detail in bright objects like the moon and planets or fainter objects like galaxies and nebulae. Long focal length refractors are best at showing planetary and lunar detail; a large aperture reflector excels at showing feint galaxies and nebulae, while wide field scopes are better for comet and supernovae searches. Alt-azimuth mounts are portable, inexpensive and easy to operate, while heavier, more expensive equatorial mounts are best for photography and high power tracking. For these reasons it is strongly advised against buying a telescope until you have looked through several different types and talked with a few experienced owners.

John Weasner is a long time amateur astronomer. He is currently working on a web site about telescopes and telescope making, but until it will be ready you can visit http://www.nightskyinfo.com, a nice and useful weekly guide to the night sky.

SUBTLE ADDICTIONS By Margaret Paul, Ph.D.

Many people are aware of the fact that addictions are used to
avoid pain, and most of us are aware of the common addictions:
food, alcohol, drugs, gambling, TV, spending, work, sex, rage
and so on. Most people, however, are not aware of the more
subtle addictions, the addictions that are often so covert and
pervasive that they are as invisible to us as the air we
breathe. Yet these addictions may be impacting us negatively as
much as the more overt addictions.

Take Sam, for example. Sam is the kind of person who ends up
doing everything, both at home and at work. Sam works much
harder in his retail business than either of his two partners,
and often feels overwhelmed by the amount of work he has to do.
On weekends, he ends up doing a lot of work around the house,
even though he has two strong teenagers who could be helping
out. Even when others offer to help, Sam turns them down. Sam is
devoted to being a “nice guy” and caretaking others - doing for
others what they need to be doing for themselves. On a deeper
level, he is always trying to control how others’ perceive him.
He wants them to see him as a caring person and often feel
victimized when others do not give him the approval he seeks.
Then, when others react to his attempts to control how they feel
about him with irritation or withdrawal, Sam is angry that they
are not approving of him. When he is really upset, he will get
drunk. He will often obsessively ruminate about how unjust his
wife is or his partners are. If his wife wants to explore their
problems, Sam goes into defending, explaining and resisting,
stating that she is just trying to control him. When nothing
else works, Sam will withdraw.

There are many addictions going on here. The more overt ones are
work, anger and drinking. Sam is also addicted to approval, to
controlling how others see him through caretaking, to being a
victim and blaming others for his misery, to obsessive thinking
(ruminating), to defending, explaining, resisting, and
withdrawing. All of these addictions serve the same purpose as
the more overt addictions. They are all attempts to have control
over getting love/approval and avoiding pain.

You might want to honestly look inside and see what some of your
covert addictions are. Are you addicted to blaming others for
your unhappy feelings? Do you use anger or tears to attempt to
make others responsible for you? Are you addicted to illness as
a way to avoid personal responsibility for yourself? Do you
constantly give yourself up in an attempt to control how others
feel about you? Are you more focused on trying to control others
feelings about you than you are in taking loving care of
yourself? How much of your thinking time is spent in daydreaming
about what you want to say to others or how you wish life was
instead of actually taking loving action for yourself? Do you
get obsessive in your thinking about what you will say or do in
a particular situation? How often do you explain and defend
yourself rather than open to learning? How often do you get
angry or withdraw to avoid dealing with yourself? How much time
do you spend analyzing and figuring out yourself and others as a
way to have control?

Any behavior other than taking loving, responsible care of
yourself and being open to learning with yourself and others is
addictive. All addictive behaviors are attempts to control
rather than learn. Our intent to control or to learn actually
governs all our behavior, and is the basis of the powerful Inner
Bonding process that gradually heals addictive behavior (see our
free course at http://www.innerbonding.com).

To access a Paypal account you need to have the username and password of the account. The username of a Paypal account is the main email address (primary email address) used to register the account. The owner of the account would also set up a password to be used along with the username to access the account. The security system is quite secure as long as the username and password of the Paypal account are known only to the actual owner of the account. If these details are available to anyone else it would mean that the security of that Paypal account has been compromised. Anyone acquiring the username and password of any Paypal account can access and perform all functions that the actual owner of the account could do.

In this article we will try to explain in simple terms how confidential login information of an actual Paypal account owner can be robbed and misused. We will then provide important and simple suggestions that would reduce the chances of such a fraud being committed on your Paypal account.

(a) Being careless with your information: This type of Paypal fraud can be committed very easily and does not require too much effort on the part of the fraudster. Users very often write down their login details for various websites with the fear of forgetting them. Anyone having access to these written details can login to the Paypal account and treat the account as if it was his own. Another possibility that could easily open a Paypal account to fraud is when the user selects a very simple or easy password that can be easily guessed. People with bad intentions need to make a few guesses before they arrive at the correct password to enter the Paypal account. These are the simplest ways in which a Paypal fraud can be committed and they do not require any email scam to be done.

(b) Identity theft through a Paypal email scam: Paypal phishing or identity theft as it is commonly known, involves an attempt by a fraudster to extract the login details of a Paypal account from the actual owner of the account. Armed with these detais, the fraudster can be very dangerous as full control of the Paypal account can be excercised. In this case, emails will be randomly sent to many email addresses informing the receiver of a certain activity in their Paypal account. For these Paypal email scams to work, the receiver of the email will need to login to his Paypal account by clicking a link on the email. The exact contents of each Paypal email scam might differ but the objective remains the same. Once the user clicks the link in the email, he is taken to a web page that closely resembles a regular Paypal login page. This page is infact a fake and is hosted by the fraudster (not Paypal) with the sole purpose of collecting confidential login details from the actual owner of the Paypal account. If the owner of the Paypal account falls for this trick, his account will soon be operated by the fraudster and this could lead to heavy losses. Attempts to phish Paypal accounts have become quite common and each time a fraudster unleashes his cruel trick a number of innocent Paypal accounts become victims.

The above two methods account for a major share of Paypal frauds and Paypal email scams being committed in recent times. It is not very difficult to stay clear from these frauds and we provide some useful suggestions to help you. You really do not have to give up using your Paypal account with the fear of it being misused or phished by someone else. The internet provides numerous advantages when it comes to selling and buying online and to surrender these benefits to a pack of fradusters would be sad.

Avoiding Paypal fraud and Paypal email scams.
(1) About your Paypal password: Choose a password that is not very easy to guess. Using your first or last name for your Paypal password is not a very good idea. Paypal frauds can be committed easily if you note your pass word in places that are accessible to others. Change your password periodically and whenever you suspect that you have become a victim of a Paypal email scam or other type of Paypal fraud.

(2) Clicking links to login: Never click links on emails to access your Paypal account. Always use your web browser and type in the complete name of the Paypal website to login. Paypal email scams urge you to click a link on the email and access your website. The login information is then saved to a website that is not a Paypal website. This allows fraudsters to login to your Paypal account and make transactions on your account.

(3) Periodic account check: Login to your account periodically and look for any strange or unexpected transactions. The transactions could relate to a receipt or payment of money. If you notice any abnormal movement in your Paypal account, consider it to be a Paypal fraud and inform Paypal immediately. Also change the password immediately to reduce the chances of further damage.

(4) Logging out of your account: If you are in the habit of logging into your Paypal account and then leaving the active account minimized on your browser, you could be helping someone commit frauds on your Paypal account very easily. Such security lapses do not require email scams or other methods. Always logout of your Paypal account once you have finished working on it or when you will not be using it for a couple of minutes.

Follow the above suggestions and you will be pleased with the results. Your Paypal account will be a lot safer and you will at the same time, reap the benefits of transacting online. In the year 2000, Bill Gates commented about the internet saying, “the internet will create thousands upon thousands of new millionaires in the next four years, those who do not learn to use it will be left behind, for there will be two people on planet earth: those on the internet and those going out of business”. That same year, I got hooked to the cyber world. Becoming aware of the information age, An age characterized by a high demand for information and where its exchange is quick.

The Internet is a door opener on a glamorous and exciting world with a powerful formative influence. Its advent has greatly increased the abilities of companies to transact their businesses faster, accurately, and at reduced costs.

Gates again, “will e-commerce change everything or just add another small sales channel? The Internet is not just another sales channel. It will transform your business. The future company will operate with a digital nervous system”. The Internet is a new medium for doing business. It will help your firm bring about revolutionary changes in your relevant fields. It really does not matter who exactly you are, what you are, and where you are. The Internet will take you where you want to be.

WILL A NUCLEAR “ARMAGEDDON BE THE LAST WAR? (PART 2)

By Arthur Zulu

Let’s say that a full nuclear conflagration is going on right
now at the North Pole. And let’s suppose you are somewhere in
the South Pole.

Although you are in the antipodes — far away from the scene of
the nuclear war, you will not escape the blast, the fire, and
the radiation. You will be so uncomfortable that you will
suddenly find yourself dancing to the tune of an maginary
symphony.

Now, let’s shift the goal post of the nuclear action half way
around the world from the artic to the equator. Do you think
that you will still be dancing?

Imagine the nukes now exploding and flying around down under in
Antarctica. What will be your fate? Or the fate of the smallest
living things? Or what do you think the fire and the heat will
be doing to the ice? Well, your guess is as good as mine.

Thousands in Asia and Europe who suffered the nuclear inter when
the nuclear plant in Chernobyl, Russia leaked accidentally can
give you an introductory lesson on nuclear crisis. But the
lecture may not be complete because those who died from the
leakage, and who were buried in raised sealed metal graves (to
prevent contamination), will not be around to give you the
postscript.

Now, look at this parade of weapons of mass destruction –5,000
nuclear weapons on hair - trigger alert, 4,000 intercontinental
ballistic missiles (2,000 on either side of the Atlantic) and
1,000 submarine ballistic missiles, all set, to wreak havoc, at
any time!

But the United States and Russia are not the only countries
having these instruments of death. Never mind that the weapons
have been reduced (new ones are added), and never mind that they
have agreed not to aim the missiles at each other (it can be
reloaded within seconds).

The fact is that apart from the traditional five nuclear club
nations — The United States, Russia, Britain, France and China,
some rogue states — Iran, Iraq and North Korea are in
possession of the deadly weapons. And these rogue states — axis
of evil (apologies to George Bush Jr.) cannot be trusted, (no
wonder the U.S. has donned a nuclear umbrella to catch falling
“evil” missiles).

So in this age of mutual assured destruction (MAD) — check your
dictionary for synonyms, a nuclear power can launch an attack on
warning (whether real or imagined), or on attack (just in case
you don’t have a nuclear shield over your head). And the
doomsday clock ticks dangerously close to the midnight hour!

Therefore, show me the signatories of the Nuclear
Non-Proliferation Treaty, and show me the signatories of the
Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, and I will show you the
hypocrites!

Now, just because you may not be around to tell what struck you
during a nuclear war, let me tell you the power of just
one-megaton bomb!

Act 1. Actor : Thermal Radiation (Call him Light and Heat).

You are going to be blinded by a terrible flash of light that
would pale Saul’s experience into naught. You will be vaporized
by the intense heat of the fireball. Your house, clothes,
furniture and neighbors will end up in a fire twice the burning
power of the core of the sun! And your dead body will be bathed
by a black sooty rain!

Act 2. Actor: Air Blast. (Call him wind). A terrible hurricane
generated by the nuclear blast carries you, your house, and
debris, to where only God knows! You and your neighbors
suffocate to death with pieces of glass and metal buried in your
body. Your ears, eyes and lungs rupture. Your flesh is hanging
from your body and dragging on the ground, and your hair
standing on end.

Act 3. Actor: Radiation. (Call him the undertaker)

Your body is given a special treat by neutrons and gamma rays.
Result? Nausea, vomiting, convulsion, tremor, ataxia,
hemorrhaging and lethargy are your friends. And cancer,
infertility, abortion, diarrhea, weakness, nervous disorder,
deformed children, stillborn and infectious diseases are your
relatives. And if you die or are mortally wounded, flies and
maggots will be your attendants.

The unfortunate survivor will have only one inglorious job –
gathering and lighting of dead bodies, and die in the end by an
epidemic. Or if there are no survivors, vultures and scavengers
(if any are left), will eat, to eat no more.

You can choose now. Would you like to die or to survive the
coming nuclear disaster? Whatever your choice is, do not write a
will. Because there will be no property or inheritors!

The land, the vegetation and the waters will be left, though too
poisoned to sustain life. But which survivor (if at all) would
like to inherit a poisoned estate?

Black was the cloak

The Raven wore,

In fine feathers to feet

As with night

There was more.

Charmed intervention

Initiated by he,

With profound gesture

The bird did enlighten me.

Though Raven spoke often

Many words to the wise,

‘Twas his feet told this story

To my wide open eyes.

Wings letting down

Contact with earth,

Then up again

In a dance of mirth!

Astute of the Raven

To communicate this way,

For this is my style

As I walk every day.

The message was clear

And ever so dear,

“Glad to see you”

Danced he,

“That is why we are here”.
