If you are currently single and you want to position yourself for the dating circuit, you must first reflect on what type of dating you prefer to attempt. In this contemporary and technological age, there are two styles of dating to choose from. Traditional dating and internet dating.

What does online dating and traditional dating have to offer?
1) If you are successful in catching promising dates on a routine basis, utilizing a traditional dating approach, you may not need to try online dating. However, if you often have difficulty getting a date in real time, you may find success by using an internet dating service.

2) Time is Precious. The majority of single people consider their time to be very valuable. If a busy and stressful daily life captures you, you will not have much time to go out to social events and meet new people. Internet dating saves you time and energy by serving as a filter prior to you even meeting anyone directly.

3) Trouble with location. Location will never be a complication for traditional dating, because most of the time, you get acquainted with your date at parties, social events, and other activities throughout the city. Although internet dating gives you the chance to meet up with new individuals from all parts of the globe, it could be a hassle trying to get you and your date together, especially when both of you are located on opposite sides of the planet.

4) A blind date from Hell. Have your friends, at any time, attempted to set you up on a date that you had no hint or clue who the person was? If you are numbered along with the many others who dislike this form of traditional dating, you would probably appreciate using an online dating service. By way of the internet, you have the opportunity to get to know someone prior to meeting them face to face. By becoming acquainted with your date ahead of time, you would be able to determine the likelihood of a smooth dialogue and compatibility when you make contact with the person.

5) Discovering Your dream partner. Normally ,when you meet a person in a bar, party or social event, the chief feature that attracts you to them are their physical characteristics. You may not know their place of birth, their goals in life or personality upon the first introduction. In internet dating, you maintain the priviledge to search for credible and reliable dates who have the same interest, religion, location, temperament, and situation as yourself. There is a greater possibility that you will find that special mate who would complement you the most for a lifetime.

6) Cost efficient. Unlike meeting your date for a dinner meal or coffee tea outing, online dating can be more cost effective than traditional dating. However, some make the mistake of spending too much time on long distance telephone calls which could also become very costly for those practicing internet dating or traditional dating.

In whatever style of dating you determine is more appropriate for you, always be cautious in giving out personal and private information to a person who is, in all honesty, still a stranger. Be certain that your date is genuinely safe and all right. He could either be the person of your dreams - or your worst nightmare and enemy.

Come on. Be realistic. How should I approach security for my computer in the same way as I would approach security for my car or home? The answer is simple, just apply the same principles, not the same mechanisms. Why do I want to protect my car and my home? It prevents people from invading my privacy. What else is it when someone breaks into your car? A thief has no respect for the private assets of someone else, he takes what he wants, and an arsonist has no respect for the private assets of someone, he burns what he wants. Squatters have no respect for any private property, they occupy whatever piece of land they want. That is why we have alarms, security systems and security guards to protect our assets and most important of all our privacy. We don’t like strangers strolling round on our premises, we take the necessary precautions to keep them off our property by putting fences and walls around our houses.

Your computer is nothing other than your private electronic property. Why would you go to all the trouble to keep unwanted people away from your home if you don’t mind it when unwanted software crawls through your PC? You make online purchases, do online banking transactions, log into your e-mail, enter several passwords to keep people from gaining unauthorised access your private and critical information. Sure, so why would you want a key-logger or password-grabber to infiltrate your computer and steal all your important and private information? You need an anti-virus program, a spyware and ad-ware scanner and some kind of resident shield to prevent all these malicious programs from accessing your PC. We are talking about millions of home users who don’t have the kind of budget to afford all these programs. That is why so many people ignore the threats of malicious software because it is just too expensive and not that important, to them, to battle them. It helps nothing to educate users against these threats if you can’t empower them.

Many of the big anti-virus companies refuse to distribute free-ware versions of their software to help home users battle these threats. After all, it is home users that are the easiest targets for infections and they are the pawns for Denial Of Service attacks. This is where smaller anti-virus and -spyware companies made the difference when they introduced free, fully functional programs for home users. They even maintain these versions by updating them as new threats make an appearance. It clearly indicates that their main goal is to fight malicious software and not only profit. Companies like these make a positive contribution to the online community by empowering home users to battle the villains of the online world.

Home users no longer have an excuse for not protecting their computers. Not only companies, but also individuals have developed some useful tools to help their fellow man. The biggest problem users may face now is to make the right choice between all the free security software available today. That is why informed members of the online community have to share their knowledge with the uninformed to help them make the right choices and stay clear of fraudulent and malicious software.

Tyra Banks, Maria Menoulos and now an un-named model on the
Today Show have all taken to the streets in padded suits and
jowel make-up to expose with hidden cameras what it’s like to be
overweight in America. And … Are you ready for this? It’s not
fun. Tyra was absolutely in tears. I mean, really, is this what
it’s like not to be a Super Model? Poor baby, how could she take
it for the few hours that she didn’t have everyone kissing her
butt?

Well, there are a lot of people who could tell her what it’s
really like, and a lot of them are living here with me in
Wisconsin. Wisconsin is now the most overweight state in the
USA. And the US is the most overweight country in the world, so
if you happen to notice the Midwest sinking a little in the
middle that’s the reason why. I guess we should take ‘pride’ in
being the pudgiest of the pudgy, but I don’t know if I feel like
jumping up and down yelling ‘We’re number one!’ because it would
take me so long to get out of my LaZee Boy, and by then I’d be
winded.

I don’t know what motivated all of these people to dress up and
pretend to be heavy and not beautiful for a day. It must be like
a sort of tourist destination for them, as in: “I wonder what it
would be like to be ordinary and not splendid and wonderful?”
This is their self chosen penance for having it too damn good,
with the only difference being that they’re just visiting, and
can rip off the blubber make-up when they’ve had enough.

Overweight people are treated poorly. There’s no question about
it. And a lot of people have no sympathy for a voluntary
condition like obesity, because if you think about it, no one
has to be fat do they? These people should just not eat so much,
right? It’s never, ever as simple as that, of course - unless
it’s not you. Then it is. Excess weight is one of those
conditions that’s also considered a moral failing to many.

>From an evolutionary standpoint - or intelligent design
standpoint, if you insist - obesity indicates unfitness in a
potential mate. It also indicates, for a male, that the woman is
potentially pregnant with another man’s child who you wouldn’t
want to raise as your own, would you, you big brained ape, you?
The dismay that humans feel towards the non-healthy is in
reality innate in the species; we either evolved or were
designed that way.

I can’t claim to have spoken with every three hundred pound
person in the world, but my experience has been that when you
find somebody that heavy, you inevitably find somebody with a
lot of trauma in their life. Ask and I guarantee that you will
hear a horrible story or two that will bring you to tears. The
excess eating is medication to kill the pain. So, not only are
they living with the awful things that caused them to overeat in
the first place, but now they have also the scorn of society to
deal with.

I haven’t seen the entire TV pieces from Tyra, Maria or the
Today Show so I can’t tell you what lessons they may have had to
teach. I find it personally distressing that for almost certain
they will take up the cause of this ‘new form of discrimination’
for a day or so, then abandon it for the next ‘new form of
discrimination’ that comes their way. Maybe along the way
they’ll actually succeed in helping those who need that help. Or
maybe they’ll just get higher ratings.

Like with many other things in the world of printing, laser printers have come a long way in the past few years. They have gone from being found almost exclusively in offices to being offered at $100 for a home user. Although they are better for a lot of people, some have a hard time imagining themselves buying a laser printer for their home. A lot of people have the idea that laser printers are just the big clunky machines in their offices where the toner cartridges cost a fortune. However, if you are someone who prints out a large amount of documents and is tired of always having to buy new black inkjet cartridges, laser printers can be the solution. Once you get past the initial sticker shock of buying laser toner cartridges, you will realize the numbers for an entry level laser printer versus an inkjet printer look something like this:

Typical toner cartridge - $50-$60
Page yield - 2,000-3,000 pages
Average cost per page - 2-2.5 cents per page

Typical inkjet cartridge - $20-$30
Page yield - 400-500 pages
Average cost per page - 4-6 cents per page

Although these are just averages and may not seem all that different, in general if you are printing documents, it will probably cost you twice as much to run an inkjet printer than a laser printer. It is better to think of things in the long term when it comes to laser printers, because only then will you truly appreciate their value. If you buy a laser printer and then a backup toner cartridge at the same time, by the time you will have finished that second cartridge, you would have gone through roughly 10 inkjet cartridges.

So if you aren’t into printing color, then you are probably better off going with a laser printer over a standard inkjet printer. You will appreciate the speed and low maintenance of a laser printer, while also saving money on printer ink in the long run.

Karl Smith devotes all his time to ink, so therefore he is probably the world’s foremost authority on the world of printing. He writes a blog at www.pacificink.com/blog.

Selecting the right model train can be a difficult task for the newcomer to the model-railroading hobby. There are so many trains out there, each in a different size. In this article, I am going to discuss a couple important things to know before buying your first model train. I know firsthand how that very first trip to the model train store can feel. After reading this article, you will have a better understanding of what to look for.

Space and Scale

Before you even think of building a model train set, you need to know just how
much space you’ll have for it. When you purchase a model train, it has a “scale”
associated with it. The scale informs you of the size of the train. The majority of
model train enthusiasts love the HO scale because it takes limited space for a
regular setup and the detail is nice. If space is at a premium for you, look into N
scale trains. These can be run in the smallest of spaces. One of my favorites is the O
Scale, sometimes called O Gauge, trains. These are big boys and come with great
detail. If you have at least a 6 foot by 6 foot space, you can setup a decent O scale
layout. O scale model trains and accessories are typically more expensive, but they
are worth it in my opinion.

Requirements

It is possible to setup your own model railroad piece by piece or to buy a complete
kit. Generally, a complete kit will lack the frills associated with model railroad
setups like scenery, but you can be up and running in minutes. If you end up buying
a ready-to-run complete set, you can add-on to it easily by simply buying the parts
you desire. Also you can run other trains on the track. Just make sure to buy the
same scale as your setup. For example, if you bought a HO scale set, you want to
buy HO model trains in the future.

Some Things to Look For

When buying your new model train, look to see if it is DCC enabled. This is a big
one. You want to have your train DCC enabled, if possible, so you can run other
trains at the same time with ease. Should you decide one train is enough for you,
this is less of an issue, in my opinion. However, you never know. Your model train
store will only have a very small fraction of the model trains and accessories that are
out there. Don’t feel like you have to buy what they have. The Internet is full of
model train stores.

Finally, I recommend that you look for a model train store in your area and go talk
to them. You can learn a lot very quickly by talking with someone in person who
cares about the hobby. While hobby stores are ok, a store dedicated to model
railroading is far superior in every aspect. The probability of finding someone who
really knows about model railroading in detail at a general hobby store is minimal at
best.
