There are several background check softwares available online. Most of them are available in a similar price range. However, what sets good background check software apart from the myriad others are features such as:

• Ease of download and compatibility: The software should be easy to download and run instantly. Free and timely software updates should be installed automatically and the software should be compatible with the different Internet-related software and operating systems.

• Online help: The vendor’s website should have detailed FAQ and Help sections that explain the manner in which the software is to be used; tips and tutorials are provided and customer queries are answered.

• Ease of use: A good software should be easy to use, with query fields designed to return the most pertinent results for a given search.

• Legal to use: The software should be completely legal for use in all manner advertised by the company. Its sources of information should be verifiable and information it dispenses should be obtained legally.

There are other factors too that distinguish a good background check software; these include a well-updated database that draws from various resources. Also, the databases accessed have to be relevant to the type of background checks provided otherwise looking up a background is likely to turn into an exercise in futility. The background check software should facilitate checking of criminal records; looking up one’s own family history; locate listed as well as unlisted phone numbers; obtain information on birth, death, and social security numbers, find people by name, phone number; or email.

Good background check software should make it worthwhile for employers who invest time and money in it and prefer it over agencies that offer a similar service. This means that it should enable accurate screening of prospective employees and provide information on their credit scores, criminal and driving records.

There’s a plethora of services that properly created background check software connected to a database can offer. These would cover locating individuals based on their past residence, school of graduation, and year of military retirement. Greater to which a database can go back in time better are the chances of coming up with information on a lost acquaintance or colleague. There are softwares that also help people in doing a background check on organizations worldwide so one can have a fair idea of their business ethics, legal opinions, and lists of fugitives so that one can do a background check on anyone who arouses suspicion in the neighborhood.

Thus, the best software would be the one that provides reliable information on individuals, property and real estate, bankruptcies and lien, criminals, and any kind of information that is available in the public domain.

Stanley Alpin recommends www.backgroundcheckguide.net/2006/03/whats_the_best__1.html for more information on the best background check software.

Since the last 3 years India has been the most happening market for all industries in Europe and USA. Outsourcing all production work to India was the most common solution to reduce production cost. Due to this money started to flow in India and international organizations realized the potential. Last 2 years showed major economic explosion. This affected Indian organizations in many ways.

Indian organizations got benefited due to economic explosion. People had enough money to buy goods and services which were of a better quality and design. Since many foreign companies were serving goods and services of high quality and design, Indian organization had to match them to survive in the competition. They were forced to pay attention to design, quality and service. These companies eventually hired a lot of designers. Many new design schools opened in India in the last two years to cater to this growing need of industries.

Things changed so fast that there remained a fundamental flaw which is now back firing. Organizations hired designers but failed to use their creative potential to the fullest. These organizations were not ready for the fundamental changes which enable designers explore and show their creative talent. Indian organizations are infested with hierarchy, rigid policy, strict rules, uneven power distribution and frightful environment which are major contributions to kill creative ideas and motivation to work. This is making designers quit jobs frequently.

1) Research suggests sustained innovation and creativity demands a specific kind of

• Organization policy

• Organization structure

• Organization processes and

• Organizational environment

For any Indian organization these changes are radical change in the way it governs or makes business. These changes are perceived as threat to the current success, progress and optimized processes for economical production of goods and services.

Innovation and creative process in organizations is governed by managers. These managers are not designers nor do they have formal training in innovation and creativity. They are more concerned about optimization of the resources, reducing the cost etc. Research says these managers are responsible to kill creativity and disconnect a good idea to reach the CEO.
Research also says no organization can survive for a long time just by reducing cost.

2) Some companies who started recently did it right, but they did not succeed in a long run because there was no system to manage the process of innovation and creativity. And why would there be? There is no institution which gives training in innovation and creativity. This education is fundamentally different from the design or design management education that is given in any design schools.

India as of today is becoming more unattractive to MNCs who are trying to come in because of increase in the salary expectations. It clearly shows that market is going to stabilize in a few months from now leaving India with no incoming money. This would continue unless organizations find a sustained ways to keep the money circulating. Edward De-bono says innovation and creativity is the only sustained way to survive in along run and stay ahead in competition.

It is time for Indian organizations to capitalize on the current economic situation and successfully instutionalize innovation and creativity.

When I first started my studies I thought this is the case only with Indian organizations but recently I found that this is a typical scenario across globe. Organizations in India and abroad are facing problems either in implementation of innovation and creativity or managing innovation and creative people.

Some CEO’S think that their organization does innovations and is very creative at work. They tend to confuse innovation with design. There was an interesting survey done which found that the definition of innovation these CEO’S made varied from gaining a lot of business from the product to changing the color of product from black to blue.

There are various measures of innovativeness. A simple way to find is to look at the product, process, system, service, or an environment the organization developed in one year and ask the following questions:

A) Are there 5 new products that did not exist in the world before?

B) Do these 5 products fundamentally change?

• The way company made business

• The way company manufactured distributed or marketed the products

• The way it is used by the end user

C) Have the products solved the problem that was lasting for over a decade ?

Some designers think that a good design (example an ergonomically better mouse) is also an innovation. The exact difference between a better design and innovation can be explained if you look at the following briefs given to designers

• Design a better mouse. (Would definitely be a mouse)

• Design a hand held input device. (Can be any input device)

• Design a way to give input. (may be device, may be process)

• Design an input system to do the task. (May be one or many device)

• Design an environment to do the task. (May be one or many device or none)

Not many organizations give their designers the last two briefs which have high probabilities of getting close to an incremental innovation.

A radical innovation is still much ahead of these briefs. This may cater to unsolved problems in areas where there is no existing product. In those cases the briefs are made from extensive trend analysis, market research, socio-psychological and ethnographic studies. There are many ways that organization can adopt or deal with this fussy front-end and develop a strategy for innovation.

What does it take to do these changes? How would it affect the way organization function? What is ROI?

1) It takes major change in the way organization works in terms of the organization structure, process, policy and the environment. There is a systematic way to implement this change. As I told earlier that these changes will always be resisted and avoided in organization, hence for successful implementation of change effective communication and convincing becomes necessary apart from managing the change.

2) Companies try to adapt models of previously established companies. These models may have compatibility issues. They either may not suit the kind of work the company does or they may face problems related to culture, social and political conditions in the organization.

3) There is no limit to R.O.I of implementing innovation and creativity but there are ways to work around it and demonstrate it on sample projects.

4) Innovation outsourcing (different from design outsourcing) cannot solve the problem as it would get expensive over a period of time and companies would need to have it in-house.

5) Innovation and creativity training would help to some extend but unless organization make the fundamental changes, instutionalize innovation, bring it into process, and consistently feed the innovation pipeline they may not be able to taste the real fruits.

3M, Google, give atleast 15% of time to employees to work on project that they feel interesting and would benefit the company.
3M made post-itTm from such a program and is still making 100 million dollars each year. 3M also has a policy to make 5 products every year that did not exist in market before.
Google, E-bay, Amazon and Apple changed and are the top 4 growing brands in the world.

The take-away are:

• Start with outsourcing Innovation. Hire an innovation consultant.

• Train people in house in innovation and creativity/hire designers.

• Build a innovation centre.

• Mean while slowly Change. (managed)

>Organization structure (hierarchy, power distributions)

> Policy

> Processes

> Environment

• Establish system for sustained Innovation.

> Market research

> Trend analysis

> Design and innovation management

I am a deziner by proffession (Architect and Industrial designer) I been stuyding innovation and creativity since last few years. My expertise is around the areas of idea generation, creative facilitation, structured innovation process, implementing innovation and creative process in organizations, design management, trend analysis.

The tools, techniques and methods that i use are systematic, scientiic and research based. They can be customized to organisations in any sector like IT, consumer goods, education, agriculture, films, and advertising etc.

If you spot someone who seems appealing, try a little flattery as an opening line. Pick something you actually do like about the person, his shirt, her hair or shoes. If you are out at a bar, you could even start with admiring someone’s drink – “Wow, that’s looks good! What are you drinking?” You are looking for an entrée into conversation and a way to put the other person at ease. That’s why a compliment can be a great opener – because you are letting the person know from the start that s/he has something you admire enough to mention it.

Compliments are not that common in our society. We are much better at pointing out and discussing flaws. Culturally, we find it more acceptable to complain; “The music is too loud.” “These appetizers are too greasy.” “It’s too hot in here.” These statements can also open a conversation, but where will you go from there?

That’s why starting a conversation by showing your approval can go far to warm someone up. When you admire something about the person, you also communicate that you admire him/her. Compliments make a person feel good about his/her choices.

Please keep it sincere though, or it could backfire big time. Most people can tell when someone is “laying it on thick” so don’t over do it. If you praise something that you don’t really like, some people can sense the lack of genuineness. That causes mistrust and won’t deliver the results you were going for in the first place.

What you say can be as simple as, “Great shoes.” “Nice shirt.” Or “That color looks great on you.” You get the idea. Try it soon to see how well flattery can work for you. At the very least, you’ll make someone smile and feel appreciated and on the upside, it could be the start of a fabulous relationship.

When choosing a video card, it is important to know what you’re going to be using it for.

The cheapest route is to find a Motherboard with one built into it. This is sufficient for most users. If you simply don’t want one built into your Motherboard, or can’t find one, pretty much any cheap video card will do for everyday use.

If you’re into gaming, there are a lot of factors that make a video card “gaming” quality.

Memory - Video cards have memory (RAM) built onto the card that it uses for its calculations. This is the primary selling gimmick when it comes to most video cards, but simply having a ton of memory on the card won’t make it fast, it also depends on what kind of memory it is, DDR currently being the best. Another factor in memory is how many bits it runs at, the higher the better.

Interface - The interface is the technology used on the card to connect it to the motherboard. The motherboard has to support the interface of the video card you’re using, or it simply won’t work. There are a lot of different types of interfaces now, from PCI, to AGP, PCI Express, and there are also different variations of AGP, like AGP 4x, AGP8x, etc. The AGP interfaces are usually backwards compatible, but they are not usually forward compatible, so you can put a 4x card into an 8x slot, but not vice versa. These are also never cross compatible, so you can not put a PCI Express card into a regular PCI slot, or into an AGP slot.

Interfaces also regulate how fast the card can be. PCI is the slowest, then AGP scaling up to the various versions of AGP, and the fastest currently being PCI Express, which is used on most of today’s high end video cards.

Other factors that you might want to consider that don’t necessarily have anything to do with speed:

Resolution - How large of a screen the video card can display on. If you have a very large screen, you’ll want a card that can display in a larger resolution.

Outputs - The kinds of connectors that the video card has to connect to a monitor. VGA is the most common, but is also the lowest quality. A lot of monitors, especially LCD monitors, support DVI now, which is a higher quality output. Some also have S-Video outputs, or possibly one of each, or multiples, which brings us to whether or not it can support multiple displays.

Multiple Display Support - Regulates whether or not the card can display to multiple monitors at once. Some cards will have multiple connectors of a single types, others will have several different types, it just depends on the card. While most cards with multiples of the same type will most likely support multiple monitors, the ones with several different types won’t necessarily support multiple monitors. Windows XP has built in support for stretching your screen across multiple monitors, so you just have to find a card that supports it.

SAN DIEGO, February 15, 2006 - Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM),
a global leader in data storage celebrating 25 years of
business, today announced the latest milestone in the growth of
the Iomega® REV® Drive platform: one million Iomega REV 35
gigabyte* disks have shipped in just 22 months.

Iomega’s REV family of products was first introduced in April
2004 and has won over 20 worldwide industry awards. A durable,
dependable hard-drive based removable storage solution for
backup and archiving of critical data for small and medium-sized
businesses, the Iomega REV drive is currently shipping in ATAPI,
external USB 2.0, FireWire®, SCSI, SATA and multi-disk
autoloader configurations. To date, Iomega has also sold
approximately 200,000 REV drives, for a ‘tie rate’ of
approximately five disks per drive.

“In less than two
years, the REV drive has quickly proved itself to be an ideal
backup and archive solution for SMBs that need a storage
technology that’s dependable, durable, easier to use and more
cost effective than other backup products,” said Tom Kampfer,
Chief Operating Officer, Iomega Corporation. “In a short period
of time, REV products are seeing broad-based adoption as a small
business storage standard in entrepreneurial offices from the
U.S. to Europe to Asia. Our message to small businesses of
‘capacity without limits and backup without worries’ is clearly
resonating. When it comes to backing up and protecting critical
information on the desktop or on the network, Iomega’s REV drive
is better, faster and less expensive than the alternatives and
represents the product choice to simplify your life.”

Wolfgang Schlichting, Research Director at IDC, a leading
provider of global IT research and advice, said, “Iomega REV
products are primarily targeting the SMB space, where they are
competing with optical drives, external hard drives, and low-end
tape products. Iomega’s 1 millionth REV disk shipment in its
first two years of availability illustrates that a removable
cartridge for safe keeping together with hard drive performance
is an attractive combination to the small business segment.”

REV Products Everywhere
Designed to provide the
performance of a hard drive with the removability of tape,
Iomega’s REV technology performs backup
and archive duties in small businesses, government agencies and
corporate offices around the world, often replacing tape-based
products, external hard drives, optical drives and other backup
and archive products. Graphic design firms are using REV disks
as project disks to save and share their large files. Academic
institutions are using REV disks to store and protect students’
multi-media files. Network professionals are using REV
technology as a cost-effective, random access tape-replacement
solution. Compared to tape, the REV drive generally costs less
and works faster, reducing network backup times while delivering
an estimated one million rewrites per disk.

Internal
Iomega studies show that approximately one-third of REV
customers are using REV drives as a tape replacement product;
one-third have switched from optical and external hard drive
products to a REV solution to meet their backup and archiving
needs; and another third of today’s REV customers are
instituting their first backup and archive plan to protect their
data.

“Iomega’s REV technology is bringing awareness
to the small business world that you need to protect the
lifeblood of your business,” said Kampfer. “Not only is the REV
drive becoming the product of choice among those who were
already backing up and archiving their data, but the
ease-of-use, dependability and economics of REV technology are
creating converts to the importance of protecting critical files
to ensure the data will be available when it’s needed most.”

REV Products in Vertical Markets
In addition to
penetrating the SMB space with REV technology, Iomega is working
with companies in specific vertical markets where tape is
commonly used but REV technology has clear performance
advantages. Last fall, Iomega announced that Grass Valley, a
division of Thomson, will introduce REV-based products for
professional broadcasting, filmmaking and the pro A/V industry.
The first of the Grass Valley products, REV Pro drives and REV
Pro disks, are expected to be introduced in the first quarter of
2006. The Grass Valley Infinity™ Series camcorder and other
Grass Valley professional audio and video devices that use REV
Pro drives and 35GB REV Pro disks, are expected to debut in the
first half of this year. REV Pro disks allow users to record
more than two hours of SD (standard definition) or 45 minutes of
HD (high definition) video on a single REV disk.

REV
Technology Versus Competitors
The REV drive entered a
crowded market at its product launch in April 2004. Competitors
included various flavors of digital tape drives (DDS-4, DDS-5,
DLT), magneto-optical (MO) drives, optical drives (DVD, CD),
external hard drives, and flash drives.

The REV drive
standard has succeeded in reaching the million-disk milestone
due to its advantages in speed, capacity, removability, and low
cost. REV drives provide relatively instant access to data,
whereas tape drives must spool from one end of a tape to the
other. REV drives are durable and reliable, giving service
bureaus an ideal project disk with an estimated million rewrites
and an estimated archival life of 30 years. REV disks are also
highly portable (10 x 77 x 75 mm) and low cost (about $50 per
disk in quantities of four), making them a practical data backup
solution.

REV Product News In 2006
Iomega plans
to introduce new REV products this year, including higher
capacity REV drives and disks and new automation products.
“Iomega has just begun to build the REV product family,” said
Kampfer. “Our REV products are making backup and archiving of
critical data seamless and effortless for SMBs, as well as
providing certain vertical markets with a better alternative to
tape-based products. That’s a great start in less than two
years, and we’re going to build on that heritage with new
products in our REV technology platform.”

Mechanical engineering design is a part of the overall domain of mechanical engineering. The advent of mechanical engineering and the intrusion of equipment have largely redefined human lifestyles. Mechanised equipment, from tractors and cultivators to a wide variety of industrial machinery, had effected an explosion in agricultural productivity during the early 20th century. In the process, this promoted a massive shift from rural to urban life, resulting in the development of newer equipment for the urban economy. Hence mechanical engineering evolved at an ever accelerating rate over the century.

In mechanical engineering, the development of any product involves some broad steps as mentioned below. Mechanical engineering design is an integral part of this process and shapes the utility of the product developed to a large extent.

Step 1 - Identify the Idea and Concept

Step 2 – Define the Requirements for realizing the concept.

Step 3 – Gather relevant Information on similar products.

Step 4 – The Design Phase.

Step 5 – Prototypes.

Step 6 – Production.

The mechanical engineering design phase is perhaps the most significant and challenging. There are two main steps to a true design, as explained below. Design is a judicious mix of science and art, of analysis and synthesis.

1. Macro level design (conceptual design):

Here the fundamental and very basic ideas are evaluated. Various possibilities of reaching a goal or serving a specific purpose, are evaluated through brainstorming sessions and a detailed but reasonable list of requirements, at this stage. Viability and feasibility of the overall effort in compliance with the goal of the enterprise need to be understood. As ideas are evaluated, several things should be considered. A clear examination of the impact on time and cost goals for each concept is also done at this stage. In many cases technical innovation is required to accomplish a task. These are areas of technical stretch or PoP’s (Proof of Principle).

2. Micro level design (principal design or characterization):

This is where the details of the design are worked out and are composed. This is the stage of hard-core design. Most of the technical resources and assets of the enterprise are best utilized in this stage so that the fundamental engineering is done in best form. This stage looks into -

· Adherence to requirements.

· Resolution of conflicts and issues

· Review for manufacturing feasibility.

· Progress Review

This stage also encompasses design optimization where every step of iteration of the design is tried out to reach the best outcome.

One aspect that remains of high significance throughout the process of mechanical engineering design is ‘Quality’. It is very important to have set processes that check quality of the product from a perspective that can be most alien to the overall product development atmosphere. A complete unbiased and customer focused effort to identify quality standards is essential in any engineering design.

It is not rocket science, we all know that we should have a disaster recovery plan in place for our business regardless of its size. When disaster strikes, it seldom discriminates on the size of the company. Every business is vulnerable. Whether the disaster is a hurricane, tornado or the latest virus or worm unleashing fury on your computers and databases, every business faces risks.

A small business is seldom immune, and in many cases a small business is the most vulnerable of all businesses because they simply aren’t prepared for disasters. Large corporations allocate resources (staff and budgets) and are as a whole more prepared to face the unexpected. Most of the fortune 500 companies have disaster recovery plans in place to insure the continuity of their businesses.

So, what’s the key ingredient necessary to recovery from a disaster with the least amount of damage to the business? It’s really very simple. The key ingredient is a having a plan before the disaster strikes. It is virtually impossible, to be organized and strategically think through and implement a disaster recovery plan while in the throws of a disaster.

However, when all conceivable disasters have been imagined and contingency plans are calmly and methodically implemented in advance, a company has a tremendous advantage. Contingencies are now in place to fall back on when and if a disastrous event occurs. You are beginning to get the picture. Protecting the company assets and sustaining the least amount of damage, is simply a matter of planning and making that plan known to all corners of the corporation. It is importing to oversee properly implemented prior to any need. This is business continuity in a nutshell, and business continuity is becoming more and more important as we move into the new millennium.

Business continuity, for the small entrepreneur, doesn’t have to be as complicated as we try to make it.

A few simple questions can help you determine how extensive your disaster recovery system needs to be. One of the first questions to ask is what would happen to the business if all of the data processed in the last hour was lost? How hard would it be to recover if you lost all of the data over the last 24 hours? Or what about losing a week’s worth of data? If you are a banker, or a stock broker, losing even hour’s worth of data would be unacceptable. You can imagine the nightmares that would cause! However, if you are a shoe store, losing data for a day would be inconvenient, but not tragic. These types of questions will help you determine the level of risk your company can live with, and how to move forward in your planning.

If data recovery is essential to your business, experts in this field are available to make sure you have done all that can be done to minimize any damage that could be caused from a disaster of any type. Expert disaster recovery planners and business continuity planners are trained to help find solutions that are not obvious. It is not necessary to re-invent the wheel!

If you are like most small entrepreneurs, you are probably able to put a perfectly good plan in place on your own. Take a few minutes and imagine the most disastrous event that could happen to your small business right now … Do you have a plan as to how your small business would attempt to recover? A scary thought, but isn’t it something that you should take a minute to consider and plan for. This enables you to put into place NOW the very things that you would want and need to have at the time of the disaster.

Pre-disaster planning makes recovering from the unthinkable possible. If you fail to plan, you can plan to fail. It is simple. Don’t think planning for disasters are something to put off until you have nothing else to do. The success of your small business may depend on your taking the time now to review your situation carefully and consider all of the worst case possibilities for disasters that you hope never happen. Remember, disasters don’t make appointments to happen!

What can I do if I didn’t do my disaster recovery planning?

The most common disaster for a company is not the Tsunami or the hurricane, but the simple loss of data. Computer crashes, hard drive failures, and software malfunctions cost corporations millions of dollars every day. Disaster recoveries are completely dependent on the reliability of the backup systems in place at the time of disaster.

Server disaster recovery software is available for those caught without a plan or those who failed to properly implement a data backup plan. It is not always reliable, and often a very costly solution for a business. So, why take the risk. Consider your business continuity planning a top priority. If a disaster should strike, you will be very glad you did!

Spies, spyware, internet parasites are among what they are usually called. These are scouts that monitor your web activities. The work undercover to check on your surfing patterns, spending habits, items bought, they extract email addresses, hijack browsers, steal credit card information. These are just some of the things a spyware is capable of.

A spyware is mainly an information hungry parasite determined to gather data from a user or surfer without him knowing it.

The information gathered by these parasites are then sent to the originator without the users consent. Most often, the information gathered by the spyware are used to generate ads and pop-ups on the user’s PC.

Spywares and Adwares aside from being a nuisance and an invasion of privacy can also jeopardize the optimal performance of your PC. They can eat up unused disk spaces and position themselves in an inconspicuous location in your hard drive. They can also eat the bandwidth, crash your system and oftentimes inflict themselves in the Registry or in the memory of your computer.

Spyware and Adwares have become very rampant nowadays. Prevent yourself from being a victim of these by:

* Being careful of Freeware and Shareware Downloads

- Some of these downloads are tagged with spywares which may be unknown to the user. Refrain from downloading sharewares and freewares from unknown sources.

* Installing a good spyware/adware scanner and removal software

- There are a number of spyware scanner and/or removal softwares in the market today. A good spyware scanner can effectively locate all spywares installed on your PC and a good spyware removal tool can effectively remove all the spywares detected.

Spy Scanners are programs designed to detect spies in your PC. A good spy scanner can effectively search through the most unnoticeable embedded files that spy on you.

Most Spy scanners include a spyware removal function. Other spy scanners do not entail spyware removal features but display the logs of the spyware detected in your PC. The information in the logs contains the location and nature of the spywares.

For spy scanners with no built-in spyware removal functions, a manual deletion of the spyware files could also be done since the location and the file type is specified in the logs. Some Spy scanner products on the market today have spyware scan available for non-paying users and the removal tool available only for paying users.

Spy Scanners when installed can be chosen to run on demand or periodically.

Making a home safe is not a venture that should be undertaken halfheartedly. Home security requires a multi-pronged approach and when handled correctly, the end results can be not only a safer home, but also a more attractive one, too. Outdoor lights are a great example of a security feature that can also enhance the appearance of a home. The trick is to find the right combination of lights that also offer fixtures that make a home look more attractive.

As you look for outdoor lighting, consider a combination of different types of lights in different areas to make sure security bases are covered. Find the functions you need and then look through the styles. Lights come in all shapes, sizes and colors, so finding what’s perfect for an individual home shouldn’t be a big chore.

Outdoor light add protection to a home by enabling the homeowner to light up the outside of the home , taking away dark spots and shadows. This helps get rid of any hiding places bad guys might have and can help keep you, your family and your home safer.

There are several options for outdoor lighting that can both enhance your home and add to its security.

These include:

Motion detectors: These lights come in all kinds of shapes and sizes for outdoor use. They use an infrared system to automatically turn on lights when motion takes place in the light’s area of coverage. They generally are not sensitive enough to activate when an animal goes by, but they will go off when a person passes within a set area. These lights not only surprise the bad guys; they come in handy when you need a sector of your yard lighted for your use at night, too. They tend to be ideal for covering a more broad area.

Auto timed lights: These operate on a timer to help, automatically illuminating the outside of the house at a set time. They are great for everyday use and are wonderful when a homeowner is away, too. There’s no need to remember to turn the lights on - these do it for you.

Floodlights: These offer a lot of light, a whole lot of it. They are best used in large areas or in combination with mini spotlights for use near entryways.

Used in the right combination, lighting can really add to the appearance of a home while also providing security. Find lighting fixtures that serve the security purpose and also match or enhance the motif of your home and you’ll see the double purpose they serve. Remember, down lighting is great for lighting pathways, driveways and more. Up lighting can make trees and landscapes look fantastic and backlighting, as it is in photography, is fantastic for making a feature stand out.

Outdoor lighting is an important addition to any home. When used correctly it cannot only add to a home’s appearance, but also its level of security. Remember to make sure all vulnerable areas of a home are well lit at night, especially the entryways.
