Superultramodern Science (SS) - It’s a new paradigm;
superultramodern paradigm; a paradigm change. Modern/ultramodern
scientists are inventing more and more complex theories (e.g.
string theories) within the same paradigm (space existing
really/physically out there). However their (modern/ultramodern)
paradigm itself is incapable of solving big questions (like the
nature and physics of mind, mystery of quantum non-locality,
Zeno’s paradoxes, etc.). So a new framework; a new (and, by
itself, conceptually necessary) way of looking at the world;
Superultramodern Science (SS). SS is constituted of 12
theoretical components which are stated and briefly summarised
below.

1. Superultramodern Scientism (SSism ) - Attempts to justify the
definition of science as a systematic body of knowledge and thus
to show that some kind of philosophy could, in fact, be science.

2. Superultramodern Epistemology [ Theory of Knowledge ] ( SE )
- Constituted of 6 sub-components namely : a. The principle of
universal doubt b. I, as a subject, being at the centre of
investigation c. I feel therefore I am. d. The FR (Flawed
Reason) theory e. Superultramodern unification f.
Superultramodern philosophical methodology 3. The NSTP ( Non -
Spatial Thinking Process ) Theory : Non - Spatial Universal
Mechanics (NSUM) - The theory that the material universe is
exclusively a group of thinking process/es existing in the form
of non-spatial feelings.

4. RGM ( Resolution of Great Mysteries ) : Superultramodern
Unification (SU) - Proposes a unique solution to great many
challenging problems in science/philosophy using the unificatory
NSTP theory.

5. ROS ( Rehabilitation of Occult Sciences ) : Astrology,
Numerology, Telepathy, Mysticism (ANTM) - Provides (scientific)
explanations for astrological, numerological, telepathic, and
mystic phenomena.

6. The FMUP ( Flawed Modern / Ultramodern Physics ) Theory :
Superultramodern Physics (SP) - Points out flaws in
modern/ultramodern physics and states superultramodern physics
free of those flaws.

7. Superultramodern Religion ( SR ) - Brings out a critique on
Christianity; presents new definitions of God/god; and shows how
religious experiences could be explained.

8. Conmathematics ( Conceptual Mathematics ) : Superultramodern
Mathematics (SM) - States and explains the Joshian conjecture of
three - dimensional space : that space has three and only three
spatial dimensions. Conmathematics is constituted of 4
sub-components namely : a. Conmathematical definition of
mathematics b. Philosophy as mathematics c. Conceptual
reconstruction of pure mathematics d. Conmathematical
foundations of pure mathematics Also, presents solutions to the
following : a. Russell’s paradox b. Three of the seven
millennium problems in mathematics

9. The FR ( Flawed Reason ) Theory - The theory that reason
itself might be flawed. That is, at some point reason probably
breaks down.

10. Superultramodern Engineering ( SEng ) - Application of the
NSTP theory. Modulating the spatial illusion or consciousness
with meditation.

11. Superultramodern Ethical / Aesthetical Relativism ( SEAR ) -
Argues that ethical and aesthetical concepts are relative and
thus they cannot be defined in absolute terms.

12. Superultramodern Problems ( SPro ) - States the (unsolved)
problems which are byproduct of superultramodern science.

Still digitizing, huh? Why? If you’re still digitizing I’m guessing you either enjoy it or feel as if you have no other choice available to you. I realize there are certain individuals who get satisfaction from creating or reproducing an image by hand. The very process of plotting or punching points (also known as nodes) can be very time consuming and become a tedious job. Once you’ve completed a complex or intricate piece of artwork, it’s only natural to feel a sense of pride for a job well done!

I can remember as far back as 1982, when personal computers were just beginning to be introduced into the Awards & Engraving industry. Digitizing was painful! This was long before the development of computer aided design (CAD) software. All drawings had to be created from beginning to end with no mistakes or you had to start all over from the very beginning. You sure didn’t want the phone to ring or have a customer come through your door while in the middle of any drawing!!

A few years later we were blessed with CAD programs that enabled you to digitize logos and images much faster. Using software commands to create vectors, curves, ovals, arcs and numerous other short cut keys, allowing you to improve your work and in many cases enhancing the original artwork. Certainly one of the coolest things was being able to stop, save your work and pick up where you left off at another time. Whether it was later that day, the next day or sometime the following week. It was nice to not feel “married” to the system and be able to take a break if needed.

As computers became more and more popular, hardware and software progressed quite rapidly. It wasn’t long before people were talking about scanning and converting their raster files into vector formats. Many individuals retired their digitizing pads and began the “on screen” clean up process, believing this was their salvation from the point to point digitizing, we all thought was so nice in the beginning! Well, I must say for me it lacked the luster some were boasting of over the phone. Most all tradeshow demonstrations were what I would refer to as, “smoke and mirrors”!

Honestly I thought it was more challenging to scan and clean up my artwork as opposed to simply digitizing it from scratch. To me it was much easier and faster to continue to use CAD software and turn out a drawing that was much cleaner, with fewer points and maintained a much smaller file size. Most digitizers were (and are) concerned about the overall byte size of the finished logo. This was greatly due to the limitations of numerous proprietary systems. Forcing the digitizer to be mindful of their final output and keeping points to a minimum.

Through the years of now more than two decades, computers and software as we once knew it, has come a long, long way. We’ve all seen dozens of “state of the art” programs and hardware improvements to fill a small garage! Yet many of us still find ourselves looking for that “perfect” solution that would allow us to stop fretting over artwork.

Well, my friend … I have a solution for you. Let me give you an analogy or rather a comparison of digitizing (or scanning, it’s really all very much the same involved process), versus mowing your yard. Yep, you read it correctly … Digitizing vs. Mowing!

Think about it … just because you can mow your yard, does that mean you should? (Again, I realize some people get satisfaction and pleasure from mowing, my wife loves to mow our yard). Much like I stated at the beginning of this article. You may do it for pleasure or feel as if you’re stuck with it! You may choose to push mow with your standard hand mower or step up to a riding mower and sit comfortably within the leather seat. Either way, you’re still “married” to the task at hand.

Digitizing = Hand Mower (push from point to point)
Scanning = Riding Mower (scan across the land)

You’ve heard it and read it many times, “your time is money”. Most of us at some time or another have chosen to hire someone to do our yard work. Whether it be mowing or simply raking leaves, we’ve shuffled the chore to another individual or company. So I pose the question to you, “Why don’t you hire someone else to do your digitizing?” Choose a respectable service and send your artwork to the professionals for digitization.

With technology as advanced as it is today, you can email (or fax) your logo to the pros and have it back within 24 hours (two business days for some). This creates a win-win situation for all parties involved in the process. You win by saving time and money (remember, your time is money), not to mention the mental challenges that may arise should you continue to do everything “in house”. Your customer wins as well! They receive a top quality reproduction of their artwork in a digital format. This could and should open up more avenues for you to “lock in” their business for life. Giving you the slight edge over your competitors and versatility to create more quality products and services for your clients.

The very name CGI used to send chills up my spine. For years I
put it in the ‘too-hard-basket’. But like most things in life,
CGI is not as scary as it seems. If you have a cgi directory on
your website and you know how to FTP files, chances are you can
have a CGI script up and running in less than 20 minutes.

CGI (Common Gateway Interface) is not a programming language but
a standard that allows visitors to interact with your website.
CGI scripts can be written in a number of different languages
but most are written in Perl (Practical Extraction and Reporting
Language).

This article gives you details of five free CGI scripts that
will do the following:

1. Mail out your Newsletter from your server 2. Track the number
of times your free E-Book is downloaded 3. Rotate banners on
your website 4. Create your own auto responders 5. Allow
visitors to recommend your website to friends

At the end of this article are details of where to download
these 5 free scripts. But first, here are some basic guidelines
on how to configure and install CGI scripts:

1. CGI programs usually come in a zip file. Unzip the file and
open the README file. This document will give you instructions
for configuring the program file.

2. Open the program file using a text editor such as NOTEPAD
(the program file will usually have the file extension .cgi but
may have other extensions such as .pl).

In most CGI programs you will have to configure the following 4
items:

(a) the path to perl

This is where the perl program resides on your server. The path
will usually be:

#!/usr/bin/perl

but could be:

#!/usr/local/bin/perl

If you’re unsure what your ‘path to perl’ is, check your web
host’s online ‘manual’ or FAQs. If you can’t find it there,
simply ask your web host.

(b) the path to sendmail

Most CGI programs notify you when your visitors have completed a
particular action, and for that, the program needs to know where
the ’sendmail’ program resides on your server. The path to your
UNIX sendmail program will usually be: /usr/sbin/sendmail

But it could also be something like this: /usr/lib/sendmail

Again, check the documentation on your web host’s website, or
simply ask your web host.

(c) the absolute path to your CGI directory

The absolute path tells the CGI program exactly where to find
the file (or files) that it needs to open. Unfortunately, the
absolute path to your CGI directory is not something you will be
able to guess or deduce - it is completely arbitrary and depends
entirely on how the system administrator at your web host has
partitioned your host’s hard drive.

The easiest way to find out your absolute path is to ask your
web host. Another way is by using telnet - just type in pwd
(print working directory) and that should give you your absolute
path.

(d) Your email address

This is the address that the CGI program will use to notify you
when an action has been completed.

3. Uploading

Upload the program files to your cgi-bin (or a directory off
your cgi-bin) using ASCII mode. Never use BINARY mode, as this
will play havoc with the line-breaks in the script.

4. Set the File Permissions using CHMOD

CHMOD (changing mode) is the term for setting security
permissions on files. The README file will usually tell you the
permissions that you need to set for each file. The script file
will need to be set to 755. This allows the file’s owner to
read, write, and execute the file; anyone else can only read and
execute it.

You can set the permissions using telnet, but the easiest way is
to use the built-in option in your FTP program.

5. Calling the Script

Now that you’ve configured the script, uploaded it and set the
permissions, it’s time to try it out! You do this by ‘calling
the script’ using a URL in an HTML document. This is what the
URL for calling your script will normally look like:

http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/script.cgi

Again, the README file should have specific instructions on how
to call the script. In addition, most CGI programs are
accompanied by a web page that contains the form your visitors
would use to call the script.

And now here are the details of the 5 free CGI scripts I
mentioned earlier:

Fruit Bouquets are quite interesting to make, and look delicious. They can be made out of real fruit or fake fruit- in this article I am using real fruit. If you decide to use real fruit then be aware that the bouquet will have to be eaten in a few days… otherwise the fruit will rot.

You can use all sorts of different fruits, from apples to apricots, to peaches. There are certain fruits that make it easier to learn how to make a fruit bouquet, and I will use them in this article. Once you know what you are doing, you might want to try different fruits.

You will need:

  • 7 Large Plums
  • 11 Strawberries
  • 15 Large Leaves
  • 5 Small Rosebud Heads
  • Cellophane
  • 4 Feet of Ribbon
  • Thick, semi-thick, and thin gauge wire
  • Stem tape

Step 1- Prepare the fruit.
Remove any stems or stickers from the fruit, and clean if needed.

Step 2- Prepare the cellophane
Cut squares out of the cellophane to wrap the plums in. The squares don’t have to be too big, just big enough to encase the plum entirely. Twist the cellophane around the plum.

Step 3- Wire the plums
Wire the plums, using thick gauge wire.

Step 4- Tape the wire
Tape the wire. The plums should now look a little like a toffee apple on a white stick.

Step 5- Prepare the strawberries
Remove the leaves from the top of the strawberries, and then prepare them the same as the plums. Use the same size squares of cellophane as before.

Once the cellophane is twisted around the strawberries, cut the cellophane so only an inch or so is left.

Step 6- Wire the strawberries.
Wire the strawberries, using semi-thick gauge wire. The wire needs to be near the larger end of the strawberry, so the pointy end of the strawberry will be seen in the bouquet.

Make sure you are gentle with the strawberries, as they are quite squishy!

Step 7- Prepare the leaves.
Wire and tape the leaves using thin gauge wire.

Step 8- Shape the fruit bouquet.
Assemble everything into a posy shape. Do this by…

  • Holding the plums in a bunch, using 2 hands.
  • Fan everything out slightly.
  • Insert leaves between the plums.
  • Add the strawberries and the roses.

If you have any unfilled gaps, then fill them in then fill them in with two figure-of-eight bows. Cut off the excess ribbon, so that you only have loops.

That’s it! A quick warning though… if you used real fruit, make sure you put the fruit bouquet in the fridge, otherwise it will start to go off (and smell a bit funny), in a few days.

WATER SHORTAGE IN INDIA AND DISEASES CAUSED

Water scarcity in India is widespread in all states. Even in states like Karnataka where we are proud to say that infrastructure is the best, there is water shortage affecting the school children also. Around 65% of primary schools lack basic drinking water facilities. The toilets are found in neglected condition in 75% of the schools. Though Rs350cr have been allotted for the improvement, lack of good implementation programs in a scheduled manner has not given good results. Meals are provided to several lakhs of children but due to lack of tap water supply, they are not up to the mark.

As the water drawn from the well, rivers, and ponds are not adequately hygienic, water borne diseases like Hepatitis B have sprung up. Rotary club and Lions club have come forward to arrange camps in various parts of India to combat this. At free of cost they give medicines, injection and medical advice in places like Neyveli Township.

The common attacks due to the ill conditioned water in India are Hepatitis A, B, C and E viruses. Around 3% in India fall a prey to Hepatitis B. Around 2% are affected by Hepatitis C virus which attacks the bones. From these persons it is spread to various regions monstrously in India says the experts. A common man in India cannot bear the expenses for Hepatitis C treatment. So the philanthropists and service minded organizations like Lions club, Rotary club render their helping hands throughout India.

Since proper treatment is not given to water before it enters the kitchen, hotels, hospitals and schools, many in Chennai are affected due to Hepatitis E, treacherous water borne virus. In some schools like Christian college school in Chetput, Chennai, they conduct visual education classes to teach the various ways in which water gets contaminated.

In Tamil nadu, an area called Nellikuppum, sugarcane is grown in abundance and a, sugar factory engages many thousands round the clock. In this area more than 50 were recently attacked due to impure water resulting in

Water gets contaminated. In Tamil nadu in a place called Nellikuppam sugar cane is grown abundantly and a huge sugar factory is also located. In this more than 50 were reported attacked by dysentery, vomiting etc. They suspected it to aftermaths of Tsunami and contamination of ground water. Though the health authorities assured the public that all care were taken to monitor the water contamination, the agitation shot up as more and more were admitted in government health centers and hospitals. The people suspected that municipal authorities have failed to clear the garbage, human and animal wastes in many areas of Cuddalore which had caused this calamity. More than 3 persons died due to acute cholera type of amoebasis.

To fight all waterborne diseases in Tamilnadu, 20 panchayat unions have conducted medical camps in Tiruvannamalai district. ECG, blood, urine, were conducted for one and all. Immediate actions were taken to curb any virus attacks.

The statistics also says that 609500 children die from poor hygiene in India which is the highest in the world. This poor hygiene emanates TB, cholera, filaria, cancer etc. in India.

In Kerala a few medical practitioners and patients are reported dead due to virus in water. The National Virology Institute, Pune had taken steps to analyze the situation. The incidence had also disturbed the political leaders in Trissur, Alapuzha and Kasaragod where pollution had taken place. Hepatitis A was found and spread heavily in Trissur district. A woman was also reported dead due to attack of jaundice. Kerala is famous for ayurveda treatment. Kottakal Ayurveda Salai has branches all over India. They have very effective medicines for all water borne diseases. They have no side effects and many VIPs including the former Prime Minister prefer this simple treatment given in Kerala.

In most the cases, ground water is found over drawn by industries manufacturing artificial drinks like Kali cola, Fruitnik, Frooti, Goldspot etc. The govt. has issued several notices to such companies, but still they continue doing it to spoil the water beds. So the govt. has introduced a device which will stop the flow of water pumped out by electric motors in rural areas.

Works on infiltration wells in Palar River has helped the people in Vellore, Tamil Nadu to get additional supply of drinking water. Along with various states, Chennai city is drastically affected by good water supply. The reservoirs built long back are unable to meet the demands of rising population. The residents mainly depend upon water tankers which supply 4000 trips/day. The reservoir level is very low to meet the demands of 60 lakhs in Chennai. Only selected areas get alternate day supply of water around 600 million liters. This water will be yellow in color and sometimes brown fully revealing the contamination in it. Hence all 60 lakhs residents go after mineral water only. This is a zooming industry due to water scarcity everywhere.

The following no-nonsense list was compiled from interviews with long-time online daters and the business executives and support staff of several major online dating services. What’s the bottom line? The single most important part of online dating is how you handle the simple act of representing yourself with photos.

1. Not posting a photo at all. Not posting a photo at all is arguably the most serious mistake. You must have something to hide if your photo is a blank space. Trust us, everyone thinks so. And that jaundiced phrase “ask for my picture” is sounding pretty lame these days. Describing yourself in words is lame, too.

2. Posting a photo that is more than 2 or 3 years old. If you are too much older than your picture you’ve committed the sin of “age shaving” online. This is guaranteed to put your relationship on shaky ground from the start and is usually an instant “deal breaker.” Ever wonder why that second date never happens? It’s a sure bet they won’t tell you if you “age shaved”.

3. Is that little figure in the background you? See # 1. If your image is so small you can’t be seen clearly you must be butt-ugly or have something to hide. Lame. Get a real photo of yourself. We’ve already seen Yosemite - in person.

4. Compromising by using a photo with a strange or goofy expression. If the only fairly close up, kinda’ clear picture you have of yourself looks like you just smelled something unmentionable, it’s time for a better photo. Even prose by Shakespeare in your profile can’t overcome the awful first impression created by a drunken, or worse, that dreaded “deer in headlights” look.

5. Is that you - or is the one on the left you - or is the one in the background you? Why are you kissing that strange-looking man on the cheek? Who is that man with his hand on your ass? Are those your parents? If we have to guess or if you have to explain it in your profile text, it’s too late. Try to avoid posting a photo with more people than you in it, especially if the other person(s) are of the opposite sex, even if you think the photo of you is good.

6. Take off those sunglasses. See #1. Going incognito are we? Playing Joe Hollywood? Wearing sunglasses just suggests you have something to hide.

7. You at the party, head tossed back in laughter, beer in hand, having so much fun you make us puke. It’s not that we believe that you get drunk and party 5 nights a week, but why should we take the chance.

8. Trusting your mother or brother to tell you which photos you should use online. Your mother thinks even your goofiest picture looks absolutely charming. Your view is biased, too. That favorite photo that you think looks really, really good might not. Instead, ask someone of the opposite sex who you find attractive which photos you should use online. That’s the single most accurate measure of your photo’s effectiveness. Why? Because when you post your photo online, you’ll be impressing just such people - or not impressing them - a thousand times a day.

9. Showing too much skin. This will get you just the wrong responses if you’re a woman, and usually no responses at all if you’re a man. There are exceptions, but not many.

10. Using your crappy snapshots because you think using professional photos is “cheating”. Using professional quality photos is the first thing online dating experts suggest you do if you take your online dating seriously. You certainly don’t trust your health, your vision or even your haircut to an amateur. So why trust your online image to one? Making a lasting first impression with professional photos is a sensible way to put your best face forward.
