Digital cameras are revolutionizing the world of home and professional photography, but they are married to memory cards just as traditional cameras are married to film. Making the best use of memory cards can have a very big impact on your enjoyment of digital photography. Choosing the right memory card for the job can be as important as choosing the right film for a traditional camera.

If you are new to digital cameras, the digital camera memory cards are the most important parts of any digital camera, without which they may not work at all. So if you are handling a digital camera or planning a purchase, you must know more about the memory cards used in these cameras.

Something many new digital camera owners find counter-intuitive is that bigger is not always better with a digital memory card. The actual response speed of your digital camera can depend greatly on the memory card it is using. The speed that your camera writes new pictures to the digital memory card is partially dependant on the transfer speed of the digital camera but is also dependant on factors in the memory card itself. Memory cards that have “buffers” can take the data into a faster type of memory and then transfer the data from there to the slower “flash memory” which provides the main storage of almost all digital camera memory cards. Some digital camera provide their own buffer memory to allow you to take your next picture while the previous picture is being transferred to the memory card.

When you delete an image from the memory card of your digital camera, the flash memory is “reconfigured” because of special issues having to do with how this memory stores data. Normally this is an issue that you don’t have to worry about at all. However, if you have a very large memory card and delete an image, you may experience a several minute delay while “house cleaning” is performed on the memory card. Because of this, do not delete images while you are taking pictures. Instead wait until you are at home, your hotel or in the car before reviewing your pictures and deleting the ones you don’t want. Smaller cards take less time for this “house cleaning” so many experienced digital camera owners will choose to have more than one medium sized memory card instead of one very large one.

Now the question arises-how many memory cards are enough for your camera? On an average basis, you must have at least two memory cards for your digital camera. That is, if you are using it in a normal and average fashion.

Most professional photographers choose to carry about four to six memory cards. This helps them shoot smoothly and constantly. If they run out of memory, they just take the loaded card out and insert the fresh one. Because memory cards can malfunction (just like traditional film canisters, but not as often), you should choose to have at least two memory cards at all times. By having at least two cards, you can work with one and keep the other in reserve for emergency. Having at least one extra memory card for your digital camera will also ensure that you have the backup protection needed if you run out of space on your first card or in the possible event of the first card malfunctioning.

The next important issue is how to take proper care of these memory cards. The memory cards may seem like some small and fragile piece of technology, but they are actually fairly sturdy. The flash memory is encased in a stiff plastic shell which can withstand normal wear and handling. At one end of the memory card is either a set of little holes or copper strips. These are the sensitive part of the card. Any voltage source or a large jolt of static could corrupt the memory and probably cause permanent damage to the card. When the card is not in your camera, it is best to keep it stored in a protective case or in your camera case. Putting it in your pocket could cause a short (from your keys perhaps) or dirty the electrical contracts. There have been instances where the users have misbehaved greatly with them and the memory cards have yet survived and continued to function correctly. But, this does not mean that one should not care for them.

When it is time to transfer your data from the memory card to your PC, it is best to have a memory card reader, or have a PC with a built-in reader. The data cables provided with most digital cameras are very slow compared to the speed of a “direct reader” and it is often easier to review, copy and delete images from a memory card when using a reader instead of through the data cable connection.

When traveling, X-Rays have never been shown to corrupt the data on, or damage, a digital camera memory card. The memory card is also not magnetic in nature so the motors in the X-Ray machine’s conveyor belt should not be able to cause any harm either.

Armed with knowledge comes the power to benefit from that knowledge. If you have learned something new about digital memory cards, hopefully you will benefit by enjoying your digital camera more and finding more opportunities to take great pictures.

Whether we admit it or not, we operate by emotion. Our comfort level, attitude, and efficience are largely determined by how we feel. Getting the feel of your faith enables you to be confident and comfortable with your spiritual condition. It determines your influence, where and how often you attend church services,
and what you do for the Lord.

We have to learn the limits of our faith, and how to stay within its bounds. We need to complete our belief by mixing it with the practical application. We must discover the difference between the feel of faith and the feel of circumstances. People often confuse the feel of difficult situations with their belief in God. One of the greatest lessons in the Book of Job is that difficult circumstances should not affect our faith in God. Although he lost everything he had except his life and his wife, his faith remained strong.

We must get the feel of what we believe. Just how much do you believe. The story is told of a man on a tight rope at a circus. The announcer told of his ability to walk on the rope blindfolded and it was demonstrated before their eyes. The tightrope walker then pushed a wheelbarrow ahead of him. The announcer asked “Who is willing to get in the wheelbarrow?”

It was one thing to believe in the man’s ability to push the wheelbarrow on the rope blindfolded and it was something different to be willing to get in it! How much do you believe that the Lord will supply all your needs? How much do you believe in the biblical promise that your God watches over you and protects you? There are many practical questions like this that come up often, and we must search our soul for the answers.

We also need to examine just what we believe. Sometimes we feel confident in our belief but when confronted by someone who believes something different, we discover we are not as sure as we thought. Why did Adam and Eve fall from God’s favor? Was it because they didn’t believe in God? Certainly not, it’s obvious
they believed because they talked to him. They knew that he is real. Then what didn’t they believe? They didn’t believe that the day they ate of the forbidden fruit they would die!

Sometimes we confuse physical and spiritual feelings. We may know of the good we ought to do for the Lord but we are tired or our favorite TV show is starting. Faith is something we feel inside us, but how do we know that our inspiration of the moment is from God or one of Satan’s tricks? We must learn to judge such matters
by biblical principles, priorities and common sense

There will be times that we feel like we are on a mountain top and at other times as low as a serpent’s belly. Sometimes we can’t forgive ourselves for the sins we have committed and our stupid mistakes. We may believe we can do no wrong at other
times. We must not permit our moods and feelings to interfere with our faith. It’s all about getting the feel of our faith.

The first thing we need to do to keep faith from going up and down according to feelings is to be thoroughly grounded in Scripture. Don’t rely on what others say about spiritual matters. Even those knowledgeable about the truth can be misunderstood.
Relying on second-hand information can cause havoc with your faith.

We have all known Christians that make themselves miserable worrying about bad things that may happen. Though they read the promises of God to supply our needs it doesn’t soak in. Jesus addressed this subject in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6:25-34. He gives the example of the Father taking care of the needs of the birds and the lilies of he field. He specifically instructs us not to worry but to trust the Lord to supply our needs.

Getting the feel of your faith is to recognize who you belong to. You are not your own; you were bought at a price (1CO 6:17). This means you will avoid willing sins and make him the Lord of our life. You will let him control your actions. You will give your problems to Jesus and quit worrying about them. You will let him show you how to work them out. You will accept the fact that you are forgiven, and serve him with joy.

If I were to quote you the statistics about lost information as it pertains to laptops, you would be amazed. But stop and ask yourself, do you backup your laptop information? For many of us, the answer is no.

What happens if the laptop is stolen, or the hard drive crashes? We are reduced to sniffling piles of incoherent suits and ties for a few hours. It’s only at this point, that many of us realize just how important our laptops are in our business life.

So, what about backup of laptop data? Do you suppose, as a business person, we should begin to look at another safety measure for protection of our data? I would think it’s about time, and the service is available, if we choose not to perform this task ourselves.

During 2003, over 500,000 laptops were stolen, of those stolen laptops, the vast majority was never recovered, and less than a thousand of those were backed up. Those are unbelievable numbers, yet they are the reality in the use of laptops. We just haven’t noticed how reliant we’re becoming on our laptops.

Today, backup of laptop data through online services, remote data backup, and offsite storage can provide us with the safety and assurance we need in determining that our data has been successfully backed up and is secure and
safe on a storage media.

The lag in taking care of backup of laptop data has often been due to the fact that laptops are designed for on the go use. The laptop is not often found with a typical data storage media close at hand, or even available.

That is about to change, thanks to the services of online data backup. Now, even the busiest business person, should be able to schedule a backup time, set the clock for an early wakeup, and be ready to roll, right along with his laptop!

Learn how to keep your important data from getting toasted at Data Backup.

Are you about to celebrate a special anniversary with that special someone? If so, don’t forget that a proper gift is required to make any anniversary celebration just right. Don’t worry, though, because the perfect anniversary gift might be much easier than you think to come up with. Try writing some great anniversary poems for the one you love.

As an author and a professor of creative writing, it of course comes naturally to think about ways to incorporate writing into any gift situation. I love thinking of new ways to use words to express feelings or thoughts to people I love. One year I wrote each of my five children a unique children’s story for their birthdays, and my wife is never surprised by some special writing pieces on her birthday or other occasions. I believe that writing is powerful, and that’s why I think all people would benefit by writing great anniversary poems for the ones they love this year.

The idea of writing anything let alone poetry seems like too much for many people, but perhaps that is simply because they were never trained to write well. Take my advice: I have been watching non-writers turn into great writers each semester for nearly thirty years. Students frequently enter my poetry classes with a deep belief that they are not poets. Three months later they leave with an impressive portfolio and are convinced that anything is possible. Learning to write anniversary poems can be much the same process.

If writing great anniversary poems for the one you love sounds like a great idea, then start today. Begin by getting in touch with someone who can help you write great poetry. Hire a writing consultant to help you for an hour or two or attend a writing seminar. If going to class isn’t your style, then head to your local library and check out some books on writing anniversary poems. You might be surprised at how much there is to learn.

Giving anniversary poems is one of the most unique and romantic ways to celebrate with the one you love. So make a commitment today to begin learning to write special anniversary poems and you’ll be able to surprise and bless your special someone when your next anniversary rolls around. And don’t worry too much about being perfect, just write your thoughts and feelings in poetry form and you’ll have anniversary poems in no time.

Triston Huntsmin is a creative writing professor that loves to teach people to write anniversary poems in his spare time. See www.learnanniversarypoems.info for more about making your next anniversary a special one.

Are you looking for something unique and fun to do when it comes to making beaded necklaces? Have you ever considered making a Native American necklace out of noodles? Here are the materials that you will need: food coloring, rubbing alcohol, macaroni noodles, a Ziploc baggie or bowls, and yarn. It is important to give yourself lots of time to make this necklace as it takes a bit of time for the macaroni to dry. Remember also that will take hours for the noodles to reach the desired color, and could take as long as 24 hours. And children, if you are considering this is a project on your own, it is important to have an adult help you.

To begin with, you want to color the noodles blue and red. Keep one baggie or bowl aside for each color. Put the noodles in the container and pour in rubbing alcohol until they are all covered. For each color desired, add a generous amount of one color of food coloring to each bowl or bag. Set them aside for several hours until they achieve the desired color you would like. Remember that they may have to soak longer for more brilliant colors. When they have reached the color you would like, take them out and lay them on paper towels to dry. Now you are ready to make Native American beaded necklaces!

The next step is to cut lengths of string for bracelets, and clips, rings, or necklaces depending on what you would like. Start out by tying the noodles to the end of the piece of yarn to get you started, and then string the other noodles on as well. Remember to be creative and to make different color patterns. Once you’re done, tie the ends of the string together. Remember that you can use a paintbrush and acrylic paints to make your beaded necklace, and even paint small designs on your noodles. There you have it, making beaded necklaces has never been so much fun!

Windows Registry is a database used by Windows operating system to store hardware and software configuration information. Computer problems are often caused by invalid key entries in the registry. Anyone with Administrator privileges can edit the Registry by using the registry editor (regedit.exe) that comes with the Windows operating system. However, great attention must be given to registry editing or repair because changing registry keys could disable the computer in the worst scenario. The registry editor is a GUI-based tool for managing the registry. When you type ‘regedit’ in the ‘Run’ dialog box and click ‘OK’, the system will present a registry view similar to the Windows Explorer view of the file system. In general, the registry consists of 5 Root Keys that contains file associations, all preferences set for current user, settings for hardware, operating system, and installed applications, to name just a few.

Now you see how important the registry is to your computer. Maintaining the registry and stabilizing its growth can greatly increase the life expectancy of your Windows system. With this being said, it is a daunting task to repair registry because there are so many complex registry entries stored in your system. Most experienced technicians tend to stay away from the registry unless there are no other options to resolving a computer problem except editing registry keys.

In view of this, there are many third-party registry cleaner utilities that are dedicated to scanning and repairing the registry. By default, registry cleaner scans the registry for all types of errors. It also allows users to customize settings and scan for particular types of registry errors, like shared DLL errors, missing fonts, and invalid startup entries.

Besides finding incorrect or obsolete information in the registry, most registry cleaner utilities provide backup or restore function, allowing users to backup the whole Windows Registry so that they can use the backup to restore the registry to the current status in case they encounter serious system failure. Some of registry cleaner utilities even have the startup organizer feature that lets users disable unwanted startup programs and manage IE settings with ease.

Moreover, registry cleaner software is able to remove harmful viruses, adware, spyware, and Trojans because these intrusive programs tend to attack PC by creating and modifying registry keys. To sum up, there are so many advantages associated with cleaning registry. If your computer is running slow and even shutting down out of the blue, you should check out websites out there which feature a free scanner that can track down evil program lurking on your hard drive and protect you from possible future malicious attacks on your system.

The view of poor & developing countries, In generally we found that women & adolescent girls are more vulnerable to HIV infection on each sexual encounter because of the biological nature of the process and the vulnerability of the reproductive tract tissues to the virus, especially in adolescent girls. For example, young women are generally disadvantaged by gender disparities. In terms of food intake, access to health care and growth patterns, girls are often worse off than boys. The inequalities become evident soon after birth, and by adolescence many girls are grossly underweight. Social Cultural and economic forces make women more likely to contract HIV infection than men. Women are often less able to negotiate for safer sex due to reasons such as their lower status, economic dependence and fear of violence, adolescent girls in the countries.

Adolescents in poor families often do not have the option to make real choices about their sexual and reproductive lives, such as when and whom to marry, whether and when to have children and how many to have, and whether to use contraceptives. Women tend to marry very young: nearly two thirds of adolescents in most South Asian countries marry before 18 years of age, and many even before 15 years, despite laws exclusion such early marriage.

In many poor regions, Women’s limited economic opportunity, and relative powerlessness, may force them into sex work in order to survive with household financial disaster. This exposes them to HIV infection and they in turn will transmit HIV to their clients. In those areas girls are particularly vulnerable to HIV infection, because of intergenerational sexual relationships, violence, and limited access to information. In addition, discrimination and stigma obstruct adolescent girls’ access to health services. Poverty causes increased migration to look for work.

Gender analysis, in relation to HIV/AIDS, has tended to focus on women of reproductive age, and infrequently on young girls, because Young women and girls are increasingly being targeted for sex by older men seeking safe partners and also by those who erroneously believe that a man infected with HIV/AIDS will get rid of the disease by having sex with a virgin. So HIV/AIDS epidemic has been fuelled by gender inequality or discrimination. Unequal power relations, sexual coercion and violence is a widespread phenomenon faced by women of all age-groups, and has an array of negative effects on female sexual, physical and mental health.

In many developing countries, poverty, and gender discrimination between women and men, are both strongly linked to the spread of HIV/AIDS. Gender and age analysis shows the ways in which women and girls of different ages are vulnerable to the infection, and in require of support to allow the survivors to overcome the financial and social effects of the epidemic. In responding to HIV/AIDS and poverty alleviation approaching are interconnected. Therefore health and development workers should work on holistic policies and programmes to reduce poverty and address HIV/AIDS, and Emphasize the need for special efforts to be made to protect women and girls exposed to the risk of HIV/AIDS. Ensure that the legal, civil and human rights of those affected and infected are protected and that women have access to treatment, counselling and support on an equal footing with men.

Free small business accounting software primarily focuses on assets. Assets may be described as valuable resources owned by a business, which were acquired at a measurable money cost. As an economic resource, they satisfy three requirements. In the first place, the resource must be valuable. A resource is valuable if it is cash/ convertible into cash; or it can provide future benefits to the operations of the firm. Secondly, the resource must be owned. Mere possession or control of a resource would not constitute an asset; it must be owned in the legal sense of the term. Finally, the resource must be acquired at a measurable money cost. In cases in which an asset is not acquired for cash or a promise to pay cash, the question is what it would have cost had cash been paid for it.

The assets in the balance sheet are listed either in order of liquidity- promptness with which they are expected to be converted into cash- or in reverse order, that is, fixity or listing of the least liquid (fixed) first followed by others. All assets are grouped into categories; that is, assets with similar characteristics are put in one category. The assets included in one category are different from those in other categories. The standard classification of assets divides them into fixed assets, current assets, investments and other assets.

Fixed assets are fixed in the sense that they are acquired to be retained in business on a long-term basis to produce goods and services are not for resale. In contrast to fixed assets, current assets are short-term in nature. They refer to assets/resources, which are either held in the form of cash or are expected to be realized in cash within the accounting period or the normal operating cycle of the business. Investments represent investment of funds in the securities of another company.

If you’ve every tried to get service on your computer, you will appreciate this website which is filled with tech support horror stories that would make the most stalwart consumer cringe. This website is dedicated to providing some comic relief to those working in the tech support field, as well as providing a forum for the weary tech guy to vent frustrations from possibly one of the most aggravating jobs in the industy. It is not geared toward the consumer, although reading it will give you a real look into what the tech guys are going through on the other end of the telephone.

It features stories, jokes and venting about what’s happening on the other end of the support line:

Dumpster Diving

SF calls saying that her printer has a “No Print Head Installed” warning on her LCD screen. Did a little investigating (okay, I’m lying) and *surprise*, the print head wasn’t installed. I asked SF if there were any extra parts in the box her printer came in (I expected her to say yes, because this is a pretty common call, apparently, the black box that comes with the printer is automatically assumed to be “extra ink”). She said she didn’t know. Well, where is the box, I asked. I threw it away already. Well, you’re screwed, I thought to myself (the print head piece costs more than the printer). I explained this to her, she looks out her window at the dumpster she threw the box in. I think I can still see the box, she tells me. She then, takes the cordless phone, goes down the stairs, up the street and brings me with her as she dumpster dives for TWENTY minutes. I put my phone on mute and switched it to speaker, my whole row almost died of laughter and although it’s cliche (this really happened) we even heard a cat screech in the background after she (I’m guessing) threw garbage on it. SF locates the print head and we get her printer working . This is the best call I’ve ever had.

“It’s not f****** rocket science” said by me (muted) to the last idiot who needed to have me go over the reboot process (power cycle modem and router, restart computer) 5 (that’s FIVE) times after she called in to have a new router mac added to her internet modem account. Sorry, I’ve had a string of stupid calls today. I need that T-shirt for xmas, lol.

They have a number of neat products if you work in the technical support arena. It’s advertised like this: The Tech Support Comedy Store “contains products that are of particular interest to people that wok in the area of technical support.” What does this mean?

More strangeness than I’d like to consider including things like a link to the Red Swingline Stapler site ironically called Stapler.com. They also have some really great T-shirts with witty phrases like, “I worked in tech support and all I got was this stupid t-shirt,” on the front, and “…and your credit card number” on the back. In these times, that is funny and vaguely disturbing. Who knew that tech support folk’s sideline business is scam theiving scumbags — well the acronym is the same.

Another t-shirt that’s guaranteed to leave you warm and fuzzy reads “I get paid for tech support…” on the front, “…I don’t get paid to care” on the back.

Tech-Support-Comedy is just plain funny, and whether you’re an IT person, a corporate executive with a frustrated tech guy on staff fixing your computer and mumbling under his/her breath about how stupid you are, or just a janitor who bought a $299 after mail-in rebate Dell vanilla computer, you’ll find humor and chuckles worth the trip over to the site.

Poetry is more than just rhyming and prose that is in meters and verse. It is an art form. It is something that can not be judged by its cover and can not be criticized to the point where it just “sucks.” Poetry is about expression. Poetry expresses the way we feel on a certain subject through imagery and other senses. It helps us deal with our daily problems, be it good or bad.

The emotion which is put within the poem brings it life. A poem without emotion is not a poem at all but simply prose. Poetry is what makes us feel happy or sad, mad or gleeful, loving or broken hearted. Poetry is life on paper. It does not need to be of a certain subject or even rhyme.

Poetry is poetry. It has its own mind. If it flows good if not… it needs work. The rules can be bent but not broken. Our life is our life and no one can tell us what we have been through but ourselves. We know best not some stranger reading our poems. Our poetry is our life, not what someone says.

Rhyming in poetry is not always the best way to express yourself. Rhyming actually takes away many words that could have been used. If you try to rhyme it cuts your dictionary into little pieces. It doesn’t need to be this way, choose flow over rhyme.

As a result of this, poetry is defined as a way of putting flowing words together in meter and verse to show emotion or tell a story.

Poetry in a Nutshell is written by Gary R. Hess, author and owner of Famous Poems — a haven for poets.
