The office that follows you everywhere and is always there when you need it, and not there when you don’t. But how does this wonderful portable office come about? Is it some weird set up with strict rules? Hardly! I’m going to show you how to set up a portable office using computing accessories you probably already have.

  • Laptop. Yes, I said laptop, not PDA. PDA’s have their uses, but sometimes you need an easy to use input system (that would be the keyboard), long life, plenty of space and extendibility. Ah yes, the laptop. The lower strength version of your desktop computer. Anything above 700MHz-1GHz should be plenty. After all, if it’s just for some simple data entry, research and the like, you don’t need anything more than that. You could probably get by on half of that too. Make sure to password protect the BIOS (if you’re not sure how, get a knowledgeable friend to do this) and have strong passwords on your operating system log in. Just in case of theft.
  • USB “Flash” Drive. These little things are absolutely wonderful. So light, so portable and so much capacity for so little. You could use these for data backup (you do make backups, don’t you?), for primary storage instead of using the laptop’s (see above) hard drive, or if you buy two (2) or more, you could have one for primary storage and another for backup. The advantages to this is, once again, in case of theft, greater security because once you’re finished using the laptop, you can put your USB drive into your pocket where it’s safe and carry on doing what you need to. Another of the advantages is that if you can’t use your desktop computer or laptop for whatever reason, you can just use a friend’s computer or visit an internet cafe, plug in your drive and continue working. With added software, you can even encrypt everything on the drive so only you can see and access the files on there, once again, in case of theft. Get the highest capacity ones you can afford. A typical 256MB USB Flash drive can hold over 120 average documents and images. That’s pretty good, isn’t it?
  • Email. I would imagine this goes without saying. Whether it’s provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider), a free email provider or other specialised provider, you will need to have an email account. Preferably two. One for business emails, one for personal emails. I recommend purchasing a domain for your business email, as it looks more professional and your customers will see that you are running a serious business. Your personal address could even be located also at your domain, but using a different address. For example, your.name@yourdomain.com is perfect for business, while yourfirstname@yourdomain.com or yournickname@yourdomain.com is fine for personal use, where mostly friends and family will be contacting you. If you choose to subscribe to different email lists that are related to your industry, create another account or use a forwarder. It will help in case of sudden spamming to your address and will help keep you more organised when you next press your email client’s button to send/receive. Web-based access is a must as well. It’s alright to use a client like Mozilla Thunderbird, but for times when you can’t have your computer with you, you can always just log in to your web-based facility and still be able to check to see if that important email you are waiting for has come in.
  • Online File Storage. This can be particularly important. You could use this to backup your USB drive or to upload documents that are particularly important and don’t want to risk being without your laptop or USB drive and will absolutely need access to certain files. You can upload them to an online file storage provider. These providers will let you use a certain amount of space on their servers to store whatever you need. Basically like an online briefcase. The capacity for these services can range from 1-2MB up to and over 50MB. Choose one based upon how many files you will need storing, your budget and use Google or Clusty to read some reviews to make sure you pick the right provider. Some providers combine your email and an online file storage service into one, so when you receive an email attachment, you can directly send it to your online file folder for extra backup an/or to better organise your files. These services truly are great.

As you can see, using a combination of the above can mean that you’re not isolated to your computer at home, and travelling professionals never need to feel afraid of losing work or accidentally leaving something behind. I mention theft a few times to make you aware that a portable office means less damage is done (besides the cost of the laptop) in case of theft, it is a reality, but probably unlikely, if you’re careful. You can carry your “office” with you conveniently or find internet access somewhere from a cafe or kiosk and quickly get the files you need. With xDSL becoming more and more common, it’s now even easier to get what you need from the information superhighway when you need it. Geeks may enjoy being “confined” to their PC, but for the rest of the population, a portable office set up may be just what one needs.

Terror is a frame of mind, it based in psycho disorder syndrome, which makes one mind dissatisfied with its existence. In today’s global village concept era the terrorism is threating the idea of one world, where international non governmental and governmental organizations are working hard to achieve millennium development goals to end hunger, illiteracy, HIV/AID. On other side some psycho disordered persons are trying to disturb the system in name of religion, castes and creeds. In 20th century terrorism had its open face as it had some geographical territories under theirs belt, like Taliban’s in Afghanistan, LTTE in Sri lanka etc in rest of world. But in 21st century terrorism has changed its character because loss of its geographical territories after 11/9. When international attention was focused on its global network and scope, after then terrorists has started used gorilla terrorism as their main operational tools in all around the globe.
1. 9/11 in 2001, New York attack on WTC.
2. 13/12 in 2003, New Delhi attack on Indian parliament.
3. 7/7 in 2205, London tube’s attack.
4. 29/10 in 2005, New Delhi serial bombs attacks.
We the global citizens should start to learn to live with these types of inhumane actions (gorilla terrorism).By such acts the terrorists want to create panic in commoners that they can strike any part of world. This makes insecure to citizen about their existence, resulted into abnormal behavior. Panic and abnormality suit in terrorists designs. This gorilla terrorism is not easy to combat and not easy to eliminate. Only way is to minimize the feeling of this on our day to day life.
How will it be?
1. Psycho combat.
To defeat the motives of gorillas, first we have to learn the ground reality i.e. it can be at any place and on any occasion so we should always be ready to combat with it. This needs mental toughness and maturity to keep cool in such accidents. To prepare people all around the globe, study of terrorism faced people i.e. Sri Lankans etc can be examined to multiply it into all in world about their early recovery from any terrorist attacks, to make enjoy under such insecure conditions etc. This will help to defeat the prime purpose of terrorists to make abnormality in routine life of society also it will make common citizens responsive to theirs surrounding.
2. Socio combat.
This measure is of curative in nature as different to first one. To minimize the ground reasons, which forced any one into psycho disorder syndrome which resulted into dirtiest face of human (terrorism). We must invest more on education, sanitation, industrialization and commercialization among those religious communities which is serving main nursery for terrorism in all around the world. The young agers are being used for any type of gorilla terrorism so provision to education, exposure to industrialization and commercialization can make these young think many times, because education and leisure make one individualistic. Once any one thinks of own he or she can not throw his/her lives. No one left behind (NOLB) in development should be our mantra to limit the basic nursery of terror.
3. Technological combat. It is a tool to prevent and combat the terrorism, but it can be contrast if it be used by militants, like communication and information and communication technologies are being used by terrorists to expand their regime. So R&D on terror combat technologies should be encouraged i.e.
a) Cost efficient automatic explosive sensor for public places. Putting affordable automatic explosive sensors in all possible public places should be first global policy to combat with terrorism in all around the globe. It will scale down the involvement of general public in such heinous terrorism attacks
b) Speedy fist aid medical kit for terror hit victims. If we can able to develop a specialized fist aid medical kit for terror hit victims who will be placed at public places and can be used by layman i.e. in any terrorists attack 90% injured need first aids for burns injuries . Spray which can be sprayed in whole in terror hit area can be answer to it be developed.
c) Global terrorists attacks information network. As earth quakes are recorded from all around the world to keep all records of quakes occur in earth, such a global network should be development which can record all details of every terrorists attack held in all across the world. It will on one hand keep all terrorists tracks in world under one system which can be used when and where required, on other hand it will unite people from all parts of world to fight against terrorism cutting all geographical barriers.
4. Tactical combat. This is pre and post operative measures. Oppressions and atrocities of terrorists towards those, for which they proclaimed are fighting, should be made public through their mode of communication to lessen their mass support.
It is very easy to write Terror combat write up, but really patience full act to take against terrorism. So to keep equilibrium between write ups and actions requires trials of every possible suggested ways in Terror combat write up. Last not the least is that terror has to make surrender before humanity, it only question of perfect timing, it will happen only if we can learn to live with gorillas terrorism.

If you are looking for help with data recovery, you are likely not in the mood for the sales hype and the marketing schemes. Individuals looking for it are usually in need of it because their system has crashed or they can not locate the data and information that they desperately need. Many individuals find themselves lost without the precious memory that they have to have in order to make a sale or to contact a company or even worse the data to keep their computer in functioning order. Data recovery options are available though.

There are two main ways in which you can find help here. First, you can call on data recovery specialists that can come in and help you. These individuals can help by accessing your computer and finding what has happened. They are skilled and able to read more into the problem than most computer users can. A good individual to call on for this type of service is someone that has the ability to be around anytime that you need them, experience dealing with your type of system and honesty. You do not want to go with just anyone and it’s important to establish a working relationship with a company before you have problems.

The second type of data recovery option that you have is through software. Many software programs are available to help you. These will store and keep your very precious information on file so that if something were to happen, they would have it available for you. Of course, this type of data recovery really only works if you have it in place before a problem.

Do you need data recovery help? Do you need to call on someone to help you through one of the worst computer situations of your life? When all else fails, the best thing for you to do is to call on a specialist. Sure, your brother’s wife’s aunt’s husband says that he can help you, but unless you really know that they can and you have the time to wait around for him to fix it, it is best to call on a professional to handle your situation in data recovery.

We all know that one of the necessary things needed to keep an automobile in good condition is cooling the engine when it gets hot.

Well the same principle applies to the human body. When the body and mind are constantly overworked, their efficiency in performing their duties diminishes. Modern social life, food, work and even play make it difficult for the modern man to use a proper relaxation technique for rejuvenation.

An observance of nature will show us that animals love relaxation and sleep. They get as much sleep as they want. Rest and sleep are essential to recharge our nervous energy
as our physical, emotional and mental balance depends on the quantity and quality of these vital necessities. They are the only things that recharge these batteries and allow for the proper elimination of metabolic wastes.

But just how can one learn a proper relaxation technique?

Only the corpse pose offered to us in Yoga can aid modern man to recapture the art of relaxation. In order to achieve this, three methods are used by the yogis. The three methods are known as physical, mental and spiritual relaxation.

Physical Relaxation Technique: We all know that every action is the result of thought originated in the mind consciously or subconsciously. When we want to perform an act, the thought is generated in the mind, is transmitted to the brain and simultaneously, the brain telegraphs the message through the nerves, and the muscles contract. Therefore as we can send messages to make the muscles contract, we can send messages to make them relax.

This relaxation technique is known as autosuggestion. Commence autosuggestions from the toes upwards while the suggestion passes through the muscles and reaches up to the eyes and ears at the top. This is performed by saying mentally to yourself: “My toes are hereby relaxed; my ankles are hereby relaxed…”

Mental Relaxation Technique: During mental tension one should breathe slowly and rhythmically for a few minutes and concentrate on breathing. Slowly the mind will become calm and one is able to feel a kind of floating sensation.

Spiritual Relaxation Technique: However one tries to relax the mind, one cannot completely remove all tensions and worries from it unless one goes to spiritual relaxation.
This is in itself is a slightly demanding but very rewarding practice.

Yogis know that unless man can withdraw himself from the body idea and separate himself from the ego consciousness, there is no way of obtaining complete relaxation. So from mental relaxation, he withdraws himself and identifies himself with the all pervading, all powerful, all peaceful and joyful self, because all the source of power, knowledge are in the soul and not the body. Man can only free himself from the clutches of evil emotions by asserting his true self by stating mentally: “I am that pure consciousness or self” This identification with the self completes the process of relaxation.

The method to be applied here is to breathe deeply and squarely in a ratio of 5:5:5 seconds while mentally chanting the mantra above. As you will observe it goes hand-in-hand with mental relaxation after the physical auto suggestions are completed.

To get the most of this practice, you should practice this after your poses, before going to sleep or even during a break or recess at work or school, or right at your desk.

I always tell people: “Hey if it is said God took a break on the 7th day after making the world, who are we as humans not to take time out to relax?” So to recharge your energy and restore you physical, mental and emotional balance and strength, apply the methods above to learn how to relax the proper way.

Feeling overwhelmed in selecting a new TV? With all the choices these days, you may feel like, “Where do I start?!”

In part 4 of our 5 part article, we the discuss “do I really need an HDTV?”

Right now, stations are moving towards HDTV programming. Although available for free over the air in major metropolitan areas, this process will take a few years to fully unfold. To be honest, an HDTV, plus components, plus the service can add up. But, if you are ready for top-notch quality… then dive in!

Do beware… it’s more then a choice of size, price, and a few extra features. Many consumers purchase an HDTV thinking that they can plug it in and get HD programming. You must consider how you want to receive your HD programming to know what extra components you will need.

Over the Air. For this option, the HD programming is free, but limited to local stations received by an HD compatible antenna (approx $20-$100). Also, either a HD tuner that is built into the TV or a external tuner (approx. $250) is required.

Local Cable Provider. For this option, the HD programming is an additional fee per month. Typically this will include your local and any premium channels (such as HBO) that you already subscribe to. No HD tuner or antenna is required, the cable provider will lease you a HD cable box.

Satellite. The monthly fee is generally a bit less then the local cable provider. For this option, you need buy the HD satellite receiver (approx $400-$800) and replace your old dish with a slightly larger elliptical-shaped HD capable dish.

Even if you decide that HD programming is not right for you… you may still benefit from purchasing a HDTV if you watch a lot of DVD movies. Although not all DVD’s are in true HD format, you will realize a higher clarity. Also, TV’s last for 10+ years, so why not be ready for the technology if you change your mind down the road?

The recent audio tape released by Al-Qaeda, warning more terrorist attacks inside the United States prompts us to take a pre-emptive measure of safeguarding ourselves by procuring safety equipment like gas masks.

Gas masks or respirator masks, are an essential part of protecting oneself from biological and chemical attacks. Respirator masks, however, are also frequently used for industrial safety on a regular basis. They can prevent the chemicals in paint and all manner of airborne pollutants from affecting your respiratory system. For those in the field of agriculture, a quality mask is essential.

There are three means by which respirator masks filter and purify the air: particle filtration, chemical neutralization, and chemical absorption or adsorption. Particle filtration uses a filter to block organisms or substances that are larger than the pores in the filter. Once the filter becomes clogged, it must be replaced to remain effective. Particle filtration gas masks, however, will not be helpful against chemicals and a different approach must be taken.

Chemical neutralization works by using a chemical to react with a particular substance, such as chlorine or ammonia, to make it non-toxic. Different filters are available for each type of chemical that needs to be eliminated. These respirator masks are ideal for industrial applications and the filters are coded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, a branch of the CDC.

More information about gas mask filtration mechanism is available at Gas mask filtration and regarding gas masks please visit Gas masks.

The increase in the number of spyware that infects your computer is directly proportional to the number of anti-spyware available on the market and internet. This means an internet user looking for a program to protect his computer is faced with a wide array of spyware removal programs and downloads. Choosing the right download for his system becomes extremely difficult for him. Therefore, he should download an anti-spyware software only from a reputable website to avoid ending up with more spyware while downloading. The important thing is to check the authenticity of a software or program before downloading it on to your system. I would suggest that you read the license agreement carefully before clicking on the download button. It is also advisable to download more than one program as one may not suffice to combat the multitude of invisible spyware that may infect the computer.
An effective spyware removal download will purge your system of any spyware and if it comes with a spyware program, will prevent any further spyware activity on your computer while it is connected to the internet. Some of the reputed software download sites for anti-spyware include McAfee, spywareinfo.com, all-internet-security.com and tucows.com. To download spy removers from pop-up prompts will be as good as paying for spyware as most of these pop-ups are from spyware developers themselves. Even if it does cleanse your system once, there is every chance that you may be infected with it again and again.
Updates of anti-spyware programs are inevitable due to the ever developing nature of spyware and adware. And there are some programs that can be downloaded for free, but charge for their updates. If you don’t want to pay for spyware removal at any point in time, you would have to choose a program that is reliable as well as free.
Downloading spyware removal programs are simple enough as they follow the same procedure as any other internet download. After choosing the program, you just have to click the download link and follow the instructions.

How do you typically embrace the world? Are you constantly waiting for the storm to arrive, or do you look forward to a day of uncertainty? Do you typically see the good and positives in most situations, or are you constantly looking over your shoulder? Our outlook on life can paint a canvas full of color and life or create a pallete dreary and bland. Your attitude makes a dramatic difference on your response and experience to situations. We are all dealt periods in our life that can alter our foundation, our safety. We have the power to choose how to respond to these circumstances. Sometimes it is easier to have a “pity party” for ourselves, which is completely ok and therapeutic. But then it is important to brush ourselves off, raise our heads and move on. Wouldn’t it feel better to walk into an unknown situation prepared, thinking positively, than preparing for the worst with your head down? Talking yourself into something feels better, raises your confidence and typically creates an atmosphere that supports your end result. Even if the end result is unknown to you at the time, you have the power to think positively and expect the best. Your attitude and energy makes its mark on the world around you, create a surrounding that feels good and supports your best interests.

ACTION TIPS FOR THE WEEK:

1. Track your thoughts

Just as you would “log” your financial spending to see where your money goes, track how many negative thoughts pop into your mind every day. Many of us are unaware how often negative thoughts cloud our choices and decisions. Make a commitment this week to “track” the negative voice for one or two days. Keep a journal or notepad with you and track how many times the negative voice pops into your head.

2. Change your language

Now that you have tracked your negative thoughts, you need to replace them with positive words. What are you most critical of in your life? Do you put yourself down regarding your appearance? Do you criticize your work? Replace these thoughts with sentences that support you.

3. Start your day off on a positive note

The way you begin your day, your outlook, affects the rest of your day and interractions. No matter what the day has in store for you, take control by uplifting yourself and your spirits right from the beginning. Say a positive affirmation, focus on your strengths, shine the light on yourself; do whatever it takes to begin your day on a positive note.

Have a great week!

Task Manager is a Windows system utility that displays the
tasks or processes currently running on your computer. To
open Task Manager, press Ctrl+Alt+Del. The Applcations tab
lists the applications currently running on your computer.
A single application may actually consist of several running
processes, and many programs that run in the background are
not listed (you can see icons for some of these programs in
the System Tray).

Note: With Windows 98 and Windows Me, Ctrl+Alt+Del will
open Program Manager, which allows you only to close
aplications. However, you can download one of the many Task
Manager utilities from the Web.

The Processes tab displays a comprehensive list of all the
processes currently running on your computer. This can be
very useful for monitoring your system. The process tab
displays information about the processor useage and memory
usage of each process. The problem is, how to identify a
process. Below is a list of some processes you may see in
Task Managers Processes list.

“System Idle Process”
“System”  The Windows System Process
“SMSS.EXE”  Session Manager Subsystem
“CSRSS.EXE”  Client Server Runtime Subsystem
“WinLOGON.EXE”  The Windows Logon process
“SERVICES.EXE”  Services Control Manager
“LSASS.EXE”  Local Security Authentication Server Service
“svchost.exe”  Service Host
“spoolsv.exe”  The print spooler service
“explorer.exe”  Windows Explorer
“TASKMGR.EXE”  The Task Manager
“regsvc.exe”  Remote Registry Service

“System Idle Process” is basically another name for the
time when Windows is doing nothing. There are hundreds of
thousands of processes that run on a computer, so you will
definitely find names of many other processess that are
not listed above. For a list of well known processes,
visit www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm
You can also learn about almost any task by using it’s
name as a search term in google.

Task Manager can also be used to tweak your system if it’s
running slow. The Performance tab displays running graphs
of your computers CPU and memory usage. If the CPU usage
seems to be running over 80 percent most of the time, or if
the memory usage seems to be running higher than the total
physical memory, you may want to shut down some
applications or processes.

On the Process tab, you can identify processes that are
consuming a lot of processor time. Click twice on the CPU
column heading to sort the CPU column so the processes
hogging the most CPU time on top. You can sort the
“Mem Usage” column the same way.

On the Application tab, if you right click on the name of
an application and, in the popup menu that appears, choose
“Go To Process”, Task Manager will open the Processes tab
and highlight the process that runs the application. On the
Processes tab, if you right-click on the name of a process,
you can choose “SetPriority” and promote the priority of
the process you need (or demote the priority of a different
process to free up some resources).

If you go to the Application tab and shut down an
application, you will shut down any processes related to
that application. Or, you might choose to shut down a
background process that you can identify. To shut down an
application or process, click on it’s name in the list to
highlight it, then click on the End Task button.

On the Processes tab, if you right click on the name of a
process, you can choose “End Process Tree” to kill the
process and any sub-processes started by the process.

Task Manager can also be used for troubleshooting. If an
application freezes up, you can open Task Manager and shut
down the application. If the entire system freezes up, you
can use Task Manager to shut down a process that is hogging
all the CPU time or memory.

If you spend some time monitoring your computer with task
Manager, eventually you will become familiar with the
processes that commonly run. Then, when you see an
unfamiliar process, you can do a little investigation to
make sure it’s not a virus. For example, if you see
msblast.exe in the process list, your computer is infected
with the Blaster virus. You might be able to detect and
eliminate a new virus before an antivirus update is available.
